Navarro Dismisses Criticism Of Plasma Treatment For COVID-19 As ‘Crazy Talking Point’ | Talking Points Memo

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Tuesday defended President Trump’s emergency authorization of convalescent plasma therapy as treatment for COVID-19, even after Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn conceded that he had overhyped its effectiveness.

Why is a trade advisor so involved in health policy?

I am really glad that Trump’s misrepresentation of the plasma study results is a thing and getting coverage. People with the capacity to see and hear are paying attention. For the rest, well there will be Trump’s vaccine soon. That will be a real hoot.

They will get no plasma when they ask for it though. There will never be enough to go around, and that will be the story in late September or October when requests for plasma treatment are somehow refused in Montana and Dakota and Idaho. I’m looking forward to the fallout then too.

Because he’s got a Ph.D. in Economics, so that qualifies him to opine on clinical drug development studies. Or something like that.

Stop giving Peter Navarro airtime. All he’s going to do is lie, and there is no value in those lies.

Do we as a people HAVE to keep asking him things?

Trump is running out of people to speak for him. Rudy got disgraced. Miller goes over like a lead balloon. Navarro’s close to all he’s got left.

Everyone needs to remember that Navarro does not care what happens to anyone as long as the stock market does well. He is obviously under pressure from his boss, and neither of them thinks that we matter.

Don’t forget that Navarro writes books with his imaginary friend. He knows ‘crazy’.

You can never nail down these guys like Trump and Navarro and they NEVER admit they are/were/ever wrong about anything. It’s the perfect approach to claim credit for anything positive even if it’s utterly false, and avoid blame for anything negative.

Fortunately, most of the public has realized how these charlatans operate and are immediately skeptical of everything they say. That’s what happens when you oversell and under-deliver again and again, then blame someone else for the failure.

“Are we going to wait to use something that can save thousands of lives just so we can have a study that tells us what we already know?”

  1. Navarro’s insistence on haste is confusing. I thought Trump already had single-handedly vanquished the overrated “China virus.” What’s the rush?

  2. Not waiting would have been a good idea in January, February, March, etc. Decisive action and commitment from the federal government arguably could have saved more than half the 180,000+ victims of COVID so far.

Considering the sheer amount of bullshit that issues forth from Navarro’s lying mouth during his mostly argumentative TV appearances it’s no wonder that he considers criticism of the plasma treatment as crazy.

Navarro is to sanity as Trump is to truthfulness, as Falwell is to clean Christian living.

One of many GOP trinities of disinformation, gas lighting, and intentional distortion of the available facts.
