In an editorial Monday, National Review calls for an end to the Ames straw poll, which has been held in Iowa for GOP presidential candidates since 1979. The poll, the editors argue, does more “damage than justice to the nominating process, and ensures that the country’s first view of the Grand Old Party’s latest presidential crop is through a distorted lens.”
