House Republicans have reached a short-term government funding agreement that will prevent a shutdown from happening after Friday, Reuters reports.
According to Punchbowl News, the deal would fund the government for the next three months, and suspend the debt limit until 2027, as Donald Trump had demanded.
It also includes $110bn in aid for disasters, including the hurricanes that recently struck North Carolina and elsewhere in the south-east.
Among the many provisions stripped from the new spending measure:

$190m for a a child cancer research program and funding for other medical research

A bill criminalize the publication deepfake porn
-
A 6G task force to plan for development of sixth generation wireless technology

Agreed, Dump doesn’t care about governing, policy, or keeping promises but he does care about his image and that is where relations with Musk and Putin will get dicey if enough public commentary puts him the subordinate position.

ETA: the question asks Putin since his failures (that word is used) in Ukraine and Syria will put him a weaker position with Trump what kind of compromises he might offer.

In other words, he wants the Times to stop reporting the about the incoming President in his newspaper. Much as I think that Trump is a clickbait machine (serial liar, etc. . . ) he is still the incoming President. How do you not report about something as central to the public interest, even (especially!) when he is demonstrating his unfitness for office?

As the Fighter Pilot community likes to say at the start of a dogfight “Fight’s On !!” The gloves appear to be completely off with Jeffries immediately tanking the new CR Bill, Biden saying he will veto it and Pelosi telling reporters that Trump is Musk’s “Puppet”.
The only way this shutdown ends is with Trump backing down and supporting the original Bill. The Democrats have found their spine. At last.

I’ve been wondering what hold over Trump Musk has. And then it hit me, Trump is enthralled with Musk’s net worth. As a guy who has made a career out of lying about his wealth, Trump is in awe of the richest man in the world, who got to where he is by being a sharp and visionary businessman. Contrast this with Trump, who has lied about his worth for years, and has actually been a failure at every business he’s ever owned. (I mean how in the hell can you go bankrupt, twice, owning casinos?) Trump’s only success has been as a medicine show barker selling hats, Bibles and fake watches! So it just comes down to Trump feeling inferior to Musk and his successes. In addition to this, Trump is basically dumb as a pile of rocks and he thinks Musk’s ideas have to be good. Unfortunately, Musk is doing a shitty job as being the unknown man behind the curtain!
