Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) described the actions of his Republican colleagues in much starker terms than most Democrats have thus far during a speech on Friday, painting their refusal to accept President Donald Trump’s defeat not as a mere political stunt but as “the most serious attempt to overthrow our democracy in the history of our country.”
About time. Disloyalty, treason, what would you call it?
It was a hair raising speech that combed back the layers of GOP hypocrisy.
…and well he should. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY. THEY expect it will they scream ‘Biden can kiss my a$$!’ and when called out they insist it was ‘colorful’ and they told him to ‘pound sand’…no no you didn’t. We are sick you treasonous bastids.

I get that Joe needs to keep up with the transition and project normalcy. Fine. But Murphy nailed it and every other Democrat needs to call it out as well. The only thing that is actually keeping this election un-stolen is Democratic control of the House.
More Dems better start this call. Sitting back because thinking the SCOTUS will reject this is pretty much giving up the politics side of governance.
There is no “high road” here except righteous indignation broadcast LOUDLY. No more comity.

We need much more of this. We must also seek consequences and we must actively discredit all GOPers involved in this effort. Undermining democracy is a mortal sin in our constitutional system of gov’t.

It is what it is…Republicans are attempting to overthrow the election because their candidate lost. It’s the opposite of democracy, of our laws, of the Constitution. Every American should be furious about this, it’s a real play to make America a dictatorship, and it’s hard to see how the Republican party steps away from it. The next election, there’s not reason to believe they won’t cheat to win, and then fight afterwards to enforce the win no matter if they actually get the most votes. And, it’s laying the foundation for violence against Democrats in the next months.
It’s a bad time for our Republic and its future.
It is important to be precise with the language we use: it is not just an utter lack of proof, it is an utter lack of any evidence for whatever it is to be proven.
Somebody will die soon, or become too senile to function, or too entrenched in lawsuits to care about this, and then this will start to fade away and the seditionists can be brought before the tribunals.
I’m liking everyone’s comments because we need much more of this from our congressional leaders. Murphy is one of very few putting this in the correct terms.

They are not cowards. They are complicit. This is what they want. Just like most MAGA chuds know very well Biden won. But they’re willing to overthrow our democracy to steal it for the gopotus. They’re not delusional victims of disinformation. They are fascists.
We have really have to learn to speak clearly.
Indeed. Somebody needed to do this and it couldn’t be Biden. It couldn’t be Bernie. So it’s Murphy. Good on him! There needs to be active, public contestation of the idea that Democratic victories are ipso facto illegitimate.
What, I wonder, does this last-minute lawsuit do to Biden’s plans to pursue bipartisanship? Does it make them untenable? Null and void?
I have to hope that Biden knows what he’s doing. Maybe he does. Maybe the Austin nomination is a masterstroke. If GOP lets it fly, they get an African-American head of DOD who knows where some important bodies are buried. If they don’t it’s like Lincoln’s resupply of Ft. Sumter. He will have made them fire the first shot.

So the Supreme Court should install Trump as the winner because Trump predicts the Biden Administration will have scandals.
There are so many stupidities in this Trump tweet, but most of all proposing a completely novel extra-Constitutional method of choosing leaders that would make a Mugabe or a Franco blush.
They are also very, very stupid.
And yet here we are.
