Murkowski Swipes At McConnell For Obstructing Jan. 6 Commission For Political Reasons

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), one of the few GOP senators who supports the proposed bipartisan commission to study the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) late Thursday night for obstructing the commission.

Pretty lame swipe. They didn’t learn from their leader how to take out their own.

Murkowski could be the 51st Democratic vote moving forward. The change to the voting system in AK leaves her more room in the centre/left than on the right.

So that would be an ass-swipe?

Well she could do something to force it through, but iam not seeing her do that.

She’s joining Susan Collins’ concern brigade.

Along with his usual, awful turtleness, McConnelll just wants a win next cycle: he doesn’t have much time left and wants another shot at majority leader as well as another notch on his gun. A truly putrid, awful old man.

This whole thing is ridiculous. OF COURSE it’s ‘political’. McConnell doesn’t want voters to ‘see’ that it is the REPUBLICANS that attacked our country. They all KNOW it. What is amazing to me is that McConnell’s own WIFE was horrified and blamed Trump but Mitch isn’t willing to acknowledge that. As per usual the powers that be ‘think’ they can ‘control’ the crazy…and it just keeps getting worse.

Needs to get with Manchin…for lots of reasons. Both of their states would benefit.

Wow, what a savage blow, I bet Mitch will really feel ashamed of himself.

I don’t think there is a politician alive that can be completely trusted to do the right thing. There are always public and personal concerns that over rule responsible decision making. Personally, I done trust any, regardless of stripe.

“A personal favor”

“I’d like you to do us a favor though”

Sounds familiar.

“Is that really what this is about, one election cycle after another?”—text book rhetorical question right here

Reform the filibuster now or watch Moscow Mitch do this shamelessly at every opportunity.

McConnell is doing a good job of dancing the bully dance. He’s both scared and pushy and watching all the responses. Disgusting juvenile behavior. Where are the normal people? JFC!

Like what? Serious question.

They’re all wondering what’s become of the GOP (even as they conveniently forget that they collectively acted in ways that led to this point).

(Case in point: Prominent Never-Trumper Bill Kristol famously promoted Sarah Palin as a VP candidate for McCain in the 2008 election.)

Seven R senators voted to convict in the latest trump impeachment, the one centered around the trump insurrection. There ought to be at least three more R votes among those who weren’t actually complicit. But slavishly doing McConnell’s bidding appears to be lucrative enough that we haven’t seen that kind of defiance yet. My guess is that even the pro-impeachment Rs will vote “nay.”

Political opportunism matched with cowardice. This is what nearly half of all Americans support with their votes. And Dems haven’t managed to make this point well enough that the media (and thus, the electorate) get it.

Gee, ain’t it amazing how brave media-created moderate Murkowski has never seemed to have met Mitch McConnell before in her entire Senate career, since she doesn’t seem to comprehend what a craven, soulless asshole he has always been?

Good Ol’ Lisa, the Susan Collins of the Pacific Coast.

That’s because people are still using 20th Century metaphors which worked before Trump destroyed the mores and mutual arrangements which sufficed for political behavior…with a lot of prior help from Gingrich, FOX and a number of others.

We can all reel off a number of elected Republicans who existed in a saner era.
