Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said Sunday that she opposed voting on a nominee to fill the seat of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the November election.
“Elections belong to the people. It’s their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.” ― Abraham Lincoln
On Sunday morning, before Murkowski had announced her position, Trump poked at her on Twitter. Responding a tweet announcing a local Murkowski event in Alaska, the President said “No thanks!”

Weasel words. No matter what happens in the election, McConnell will find the 50 votes he needs during the lame duck session. Some Republican senators may be allowed to slide but that’s it. All the rest is bullshit.
ETA: Hatred for the New Deal as well as the coalition that supported and was sheltered by it—people of color, independent women, gay, et alia—reverberates through our society like the hatred springing from the Civil War (whose logic was not dissimilar); the ethnic-authoritarian Big Bang. When it became less politically expedient (at least before Trump) to strike directly at that coalition, the next best choice was to strike at the state supporting it. McConnell is a beast but it is a beast that thinks: he is preparing for a time when his kind might not be able to embed that hatred into legislation so embedding it in the justice system becomes essential. His constituency will approve: even if they only dimly grasp the logic they can see where the blow is directed. As a nominally independent woman and Republican, Murkowski will tread very carefully here and, even if she had absolutely no sympathy for that hatred, never put herself in a position where the blows could be directed at her.
You must be asleep. She get NO credit for this - NONE.
What she is saying is this:
We are going to prove we are total hypocrites and we ALWAYS put party before country. However, let’s do that AFTER the election so the rotten won’t affect the vote. Why? Country first? As if. No - because some Republicans in tight races might not vote to confirm before the vote. After the vote they can screw the country with impunity.
McConnell won’t have to “fine” anything. Republicans will ALWAYS sell out the country for Republican. He will have 50 votes without lifting a finger.
Mitt has already hinted that he’s not on board with Trump for this.
Collins has said she is opposed.
Murkowski is on record now as being opposed.
One more vaguely ethical Republican and McConnell is thwarted.
Who could it possibly be?
The retiring Lamar Alexander might oppose—but only if there’s something in it for him. I’ve known him for over 20 years, and he’s always had a constituency of one—himself.
Chuck Grassley has been known to do something sensible on rare occasions, but this is more than his weak spine can take.
A) [Bork] rejected settled Supreme Court precedent stating that the Constitution guarantees individuals a sphere of privacy free from unwarranted government intrusion.
B) 13% of Republicans voted against him.
Bork, to me, is the fulcrum at which point the United States began tipping into fascism, which is now a full-blown, violent at core, international, anti-american movement led by Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Saudi Arabia, which attacked us on 911.
I don’t know about Grassley. He’s been tweeting about a dead pigeon on his farm. Kiindly old grandpa stuff but makes we wonder about his cognitive status. I know his tweets can be a bit weird but this maybe one of the oddest. It is kind of him to reach out to the owner but mercy.
If u lost ur pet pidgin /it’s dead in front yard my Iowa farm JUST DISCOVERED here r identifiers Right leg Blue 2020/3089/AU2020/SHE ///LEFT LEG GREEN BAND NO PRINTED INFO. Sorry for bad news
Sorry to be such a downer, but I don’t believe that any of these GOP “moderates” will have any effect of this. Perhaps endangered GOP Senators will flap their gums and stall until the election to prove their phony independence, but the lame duck session, especially if they lose the Presidency and the Senate, is going to be one hell of a shitshow. I expect they’ll take what they can get before applying for their lobbyist positions.
