I don’t know - I’m speculating based on what we know about the increase in death threats against legislators. Some of them seem to be actually afraid of their own voters. They created their voter base so that’s what they get. I was just sayin.
hahahahahahahahahahaha Damn that’s good.
I fear there’s a very good chance that when you add up the MAGA morons who actively don’t care and the “moderate” Republicans who will have replaced discomfort with some dumb “cancel” outrage du jour, most of these congressional GOP types really can find the absolute minimum they need in '22. I do hope they gamble and lose, but the short memories of most of these people works mightily against us.
What they believe is totally fucking irrelevant as long as we turn out the Democratic and Independent voters who do care. And they do.
Fine, form a House Select Committee and get on with it.
The two of them might be able to get some things done if they held their party status over McConnell’s head. Romney is loaded and Murskowki is already likely to have to run as an independent.
I really really want to see that now. Fuck the bipartisan commission that isn’t going to happen. Just form a damn House Select Committee soonest.
Cleverly put and sure, it’s a bit ironic, but I’ve been stalked and threatened and it’s a pretty bad feeling. Very few people are brave enough to deal with mortal fear. It’s not really the party of personal bravery to begin with.
Let a thousand instances of the term “sleeping giant” bloom. I mean it is a cliché, unfortunately, as hackneyed as “shots rang out”, but having it actually happen would take the sting out of it.
JFC. I’ve said before, they’re not even trying any more. We rarely debate things or hold inquiries into things that happened in the future, you intelligence-insulting animated pile of rotting fish guts.
It seems everyone reads that comment differently but here’s exactly what I meant: I believe they are getting threats and I believe there has been little in our history more reprehensible. To me it is the epitome of fascism to try to force the government through violence and threat of violence, to do your will. I really hate this. It find it dangerous.
I also find it terribly ironic that they did this to themselves but I don’t find it more ironic than it is awful.
It is, however, the Party of perpetual and collective victim-hood. The GOP’s entire existence to to cry "Woe is me! Woe are my personal liberties. You won’t let me suppress other people! You want me to be equal to all of those people who i look down on. Look at me! I’m not equal to them. I’m special! "
That’s not going to make Ted Cruz’s populism an easy fit. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
To be fair, Ted Cruz is a completely different kind of “special.” And i would actually agree with him that he is not my equal.
Let’s just agree that Ted is one of a kind and thank the gods and the goddesses.
He is eunuch of the GOP, that’s for sure.
From my dimly recalled readings into the debates about what form the new government of the 13 colonies would take, the founders were very concerned that a demagogue would rile up the rabble. That’s exactly what Trump was and did, and we see the not-pretty results.
I totally agree with you. Nothing about this era is particularly edifying or good for democracy and holding onto a republic. The daily saving grace for me is knowing we are in the majority and engaged enough, I believe, to fight back if cornered. There are a lot of silent moderates out there for whom Jan 6 was truly a bridge way the fuck too far. I’ve talked to a number - since they don’t seem to run polls on this, I can only go by personal experience.
I don’t know if this interesting topic has ever been aired here, but I’ve read that Ted was famous in college for beating off all the time. Forgive my use of the vulgate but he’s such a pompous fuck that you have to love it. If he’d been a bit better liked back then, as now, maybe that wouldn’t be a public point of discussion.
