Trump’s MO is to make others believe the lies he tells…or, if not believe, then act as though they believe.
This takes corruption, leverage and their tools and operatives.
It also helps when there is a sector of people who support Trump blindly.
The way to stop this is certainly NOT handwringing…but rather engagement and planning.
For example, Schiff’s new method of questioning of people now coming before Congress, newly changed because politicians and operatives corrupted by Trump have chosen to not behave as politicians and operatives have behaved in similar past situations

And by the way, do we really all the time ask foreign countries to investigate crazy right-wing conspiracy theories that have long-since been disproved by our own intelligence agencies and a comprehensive special counsel investigation? As a quid pro quo for getting military aid already approved by Congress? Because, I was not aware of that sort of thing and I pay fairly close attention to things that are going on.

What am I missing? All the earlier quid pro quo talk was about investigating Biden, now Chump and company are trying to shift that to the DNC server? Can someone explain any real evidence that proves there was such a server? Is Chump getting Russian help to take all the stolen DNC material and try to clone a server which they will then produce and say, look here, a DNC server was found in Ukraine and somehow derail all the Ukraine scandal?
ETA: I am only reading Mulvaney’s words, not watching video…but it seems apparent he is a brazen, bold, and bad liar.

The server may or may not exist, except in the minds and the mouths of the President’s defenders and the President himself. This is yet another myth, just like all the other myths, that the administration tells the minions that are gullible enough to fall for the myths because to do otherwise would make heads explode with cognitive dissonance.

Coercing a foreign government to tar the reputation of your most likely electoral opponent seems on the face of it a bit more egregious than coercing them to look into some lame, debunked conspiracy theory. The former paints you as a malevolent Machiavellian felon with a criminal disregard for election laws and norms. The latter pegs you tin foil wearing wingnut detached from reality. I guess it’s more OK to be crazy than criminal.
