There are a multitude of harassment allegations against 2020 candidate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg — but apparently that’s Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) problem.
Matthews isn’t qualified to grill Warren about anything - he has been exposed as a moron so many times, but lately he seems to have completely lost his shit. He needs to go back to worshiping how heroic Bush looked in his fighter pilot costume and how hot Melania is. He is a waste of DNA.
His only role is to drive ratings by saying absurd things and trying to get everyone angry. This type of reporting is beneath us and is what gave us Individual 1. We need the media to fix themselves for the sake of the country. Unfortunately, they will continue so long as it makes money, which means we need to fix their audience, which is even harder.
Matthews is a clueless self important jerk. If they can’t let him go due to his contract, reassign him out of his prime time slot and take him off the panels and out of the spin room.
Tweety-Bird is desperate to be “relevant” again, and he isn’t.
His ratings have been cratering, and he is desperate to get back in the spotlight at MSNBC (or at Bloomberg News.)
He sucks up to Bloomberg because he wants a job from him (like many in the MSM) and, he thinks that getting Warren with a “GOTCHA!” question or two will get him in Bloomberg’s good graces.
Sad what has happened to him really. He used to be a good interviewer, but that all evaporated in 2016.
Matthews is a pig-and he already has been taken out of prime time. Hardball is on at 7–he was bumped there in favor of Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow who are actual grown-ups.
Matthews was just compelled to issue an on air apology to Bernie Sanders (the Nazi thing) 2 days ago and clearly hasn’t learned a thing.
All he was doing was trying to remain relevant and create drama. She handled it just fine.
It may not matter in the long run, but she qualifies as the adult in the room and he qualifies as just another toddler in the daycare center we call TV journalism.
TPM — Are you going to include in the article the fact that a witness has corroborated the incident? A man too! So you know they count as an actual human being.
I have seen across even liberal sites, people blaming Warren saying this “attack” was inappropriate. Please correct the record. Otherwise what is your use?
Trump’s strategy of … engaging in total warfare … first drafted 21 years ago during President Bill Clinton’s own impeachment hell. “Go after your enemies. I mean, they’re after you. Go after your enemies,” he recommended during an appearance on Hardball in September 1998.
“I think that Clinton probably is too nice a guy in a certain respect,” he told host Chris Matthews. “I don’t think he’s going after people the way he should and I really believe his thing is to be liked and I don’t think that’s a very good position to be in right now.”
In 1998 and 1999, Trump … used repeated opportunities in the spotlight to share his views on impeachment and what he would do if he were in Clinton’s position. At the time, he was storming the airwaves to promote his book, “The Art of the Comeback,” while talking up his first dance toward the presidency as a potential candidate for the Reform Party.
The moment gave TV hosts an opening to ask him what he thought about Clinton’s travails. In several television appearances in 1998 and 1999, while the scandal unfolded in real time, Trump remained consistent in his advice for Clinton: Don’t get involved publicly, don’t tell outright lies, make independent counsel Kenneth Starr look like he was on a witch hunt and denigrate his accusers.
I LOVE Warren…But she is more of a Professor…and the kind of slick talking that folks in politics are good at is not Warren’s forte. IMHO, she always needed to do two things: (1) Disentangle herself from Sanders and (2) hire a David Plouffe-level political consultant.
A Marsha Blackburn (who is the best at word-salad battling) would have tied up poor Tweety in knots and would have had him changing the subject to the NCAAs
When Trump denies the accusations of sexual harassment/ assault we would all have no trouble saying, “Yes, I believe he is lying” Why can’t Warren just say that about Bloomberg?
Depends on your time zone. And I would consider 7 pm prime time in any time zone. He has had that slot for years. In MST he’s on at 5 with Hayes at 6 and Rachel at 7, respectively
Matthews clearly feels he has to defend Bloomberg. I wonder if Bloomberg is paying his bills or if he has been instructed to defend Bloomberg by his bosses at MSNBC. I am sorry that I think this way but in today’s world it is hard to believe anyone in the mainstream media. They are all trying to hold the good old boys network together.
Bloomberg is a lying piece of shit. From the Washington Post:
For years, the disputed “kill it” comment has been a central focus of questions about how Bloomberg treated women. David Zielenziger, a former Bloomberg technology writer, told The Post he was there and heard the conversation.
“I remember she had been telling some of her girlfriends that she was pregnant,” Zielenziger said. “And Mike came out and I remember he said, ‘Are you going to kill it?’ And that stopped everything. And I couldn’t believe it.”
Zielenziger said he never talked to Garrison about what he heard and did not participate in her lawsuit. He said Bloomberg’s question was crude, inappropriate — and typical. “He talked kind of crudely about women all the time,” Zielenziger said.
