I’m not familiar with the details of any harassment claims, only Matthews’ on-air statements. Nevertheless, I don’t think most of the criticism coming his way in the last few weeks is of the sort claiming that he should be considered a sex offender. Beyond that, while I do take issue with his remarks, and MSNBC had to deal with them, I don’t think they’re the type that would render someone unemployable in any and all fields. Holding a prime-time (or near-prime time) anchor position on a major cable network is a position of privilege, and being scrutinized for what you say just comes with the job.

We have gone through it with several people at work. Once competent focused people gradually decline with some form of Dementia. The changes are subtle , but you arrive at the point where they need to retire for their own good

He used to be a policeman. Eventually he wrote speeches for Jimmy Carter and was an aide to Speaker O’Neill.
Never truly on the left, he became more and more Republican as the days went by, even voted for Bush in 2000.

I hope he chokes on the fallout. He’s one of the biggest media whores out there and did untold damage to good people. His ceaseless attacks on HRC and Bill did it for me years ago. I hope he lives in shame for the rest of his days.
I hope everyone notes how many of these pricks that went after HRC ended up on the street because behind their well made of faces was a sexist misogynist. Pricks like Charlie Rose who excoriated HRC in an interview he all but sucked Trump’s dick in. Matt Lauer…another Hillary basher out for being a pig. Now the leader of the pack, Tweety, gets his just due. I hope they all rot in infamy.

In fairness to Matthews he was a highly regarded liberal for a long time. The world kept changing and the last decade or two he just couldn’t keep up. I think the final, final straw was when he mistook a black Republican senator for a black Democratic senatorial candidate. He was confused and embarrassed when the mistake was pointed out.

Just as an aside, within 20 minutes of the story appearing on The Washington Post website it had generated over 1.3K comments. I didn’t read all of them, of course, but it was not real flattering. Anybody want to guess how many I saw that were complimentary?

I’d like to see woman begin to fight back on their own when really inappropriate comments come their way. Plenty of demeaning dick jokes to throw back at them. Trick is to be funny while letting the offender know to back off. Channel Kamala ladies.

It was actually G. Gordon Liddy, if memory serves, who rhapsodized about Dubbya’s package during the aircraft carrier landing stunt. But Matthews’s gushing was creepy enough to make me cease to trust his judgment, given that Bush was declaring victory in Iraq just as nearly a decade of bloody conflict loomed.
