Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R) defended his refusal to issue a statewide mask mandate during an interview on CNN Sunday.
Gonna pass on this. Gotta cut down on the stupid. My brain is full already full.
Are there counties where you have to wear pants when you go out and others where you donât?
Reeves signed an order requiring face masks in 13 counties, but has not issued a statewide mask mandate even as governors in red states such as Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas have done so.
So, while counties where people are sick are ordered to mask up so more people donât get sick, other counties donât have to mask up so more people donât get sick.
This is why they call it Mississippistan.
He is arguing that his constituents are to stupid to get it, so why bother explaining.
Itâs complicatedâŚ
âWell look and thatâs the point, Jake, in fact thereâs a statewide mask mandate in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama, theyâre all around me. If I believe that was the best way to save lives in my state I wouldâve done it a long time ago,â

This is the same guy who earlier this week laid out in no uncertain terms why âherd immunityâ was an untenable, catastrophic strategy? I thought he was prepared to go to the mat over this. Guess not.
Shorter Reeves: Iâm afraid of my moronic constituents.
Hey, Taint (R-Dumbass) - this isnât your Facebook page, itâs a pandemic.
âMS Governor Struggles To Defend Lack Of Statewide Mask Mandate: âItâs Complicatedâ
Have some compassion for this poor man. It really is hard to balance good medical and public health advice, and kowtow to the Chosen One, without tacitly admitting you are a moral coward, while caving.
He was talking about âherd immunityâ last week. Thatâs why i donât understand this contradiction (i do, but still).
Mississippistan: 9th in new case count per capita, 7th in test positivity rate, about 25th in test count per capita. No reason to mask up, there. Are they going to pray the 'vid away?
Earlier this month, Reeves signed an order requiring face masks in 13 counties, but has not issued a statewide mask mandate even as governors in red states such as Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas have done so.
If heâs already mandated mask wearing in 13 counties, then itâs obviously not the principle thatâs preventing him from issuing a statewide mandate. Itâs his fear of being primaried from the right aka political cowardice.
Now googling, âwhich Muppet is Tate ?â
Mitch McConnell called.
He wants his wattle back.
Hereâs the problem, itâs Mississippi. Unless Chris McDaniel has governor age kin, itâs crazy for Reeves to act like King Solomon.
Forget it, Jake. Itâs Mississippi.
âTateâ. What a spud.
Say no moreâŚ
