For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause severe symptoms like pneumonia that can be fatal.

I kinda wish AP would stop using this in their COVID-19 articles. It leads with a “not really a big deal for most people”, focusing too much on the symptoms and not on the spread. How about they just use the raw numbers:

COVID-19 to date has caused the death of 19.9% of people who became infected. It spreads easily and can be fatal to people of any age group.

If you must worship, worship in isolation.

This virus doesn’t give a damn about your religion or lack thereof. What this virus wants is to reproduce and in the process, destroy every one of the cells in your lungs. Does your god really believe that you’re better off praising him while you perpetuate a disease?

All religions are Death Cults.

Please make a note of it.

In the most charitable sense: For most human beings, mortality is not easy to deal with and so, if their religion offers some solace, their devotion is not difficult to understand.

Just because mosques (or churches, or synagogues, or whatever) are staying open, it doesn’t mean they’re full. People who believe in the power of the scientific method, even those who also believe in a god, are listening to what scientists are saying and they are self-isolating. People who don’t will continue to gather in places of worship, beaches, country diners, barn dances, etc. A lot of them are going to get sick, and some of them are going to die. Unfortunately, they’re going to make a lot of other people sick, as well.

Like murderers, soldiers, terrorists, mercenaries and other professionals who have to kill for a living, viruses too have rules of conduct. They stay away from religious institutions.

The only way humanity will find out whether or not prayer works and what it is good for is from the mosques in Pakisatan and from Becki, Jerry Fallwell, their pool boy and the young evangelicals in Liberty University church. If prayer truly works for anything it will prove more cost effective than vaccines and make you feel better than therapy.

To all the worshippers in Pakisatan and in Liberty: Stay safe, stay well and may your gods and prophets and angels kill the virus and help you and I hope the benefits from those folk rub off on us. Thoughts and prayers. Bless your heart.

They weren’t doing the right prayer? Or may be they were not praying to an all powerful god capable of killing the virus, or a more benevolent god who cared about his minions? The folks in Pakisatan and Liberty U are simply saying that their god is better than the other guys’.

On a lighter note, it appears the spread of COVID-19 in Pakisatan may be vector-borne, i.e., spread by mosquetoes.
