Just so we’re clear, I’m glad that 1/3 of GOP candidates are on record as MAGAts–if they don’t win so many statehouses that they can overturn the popular vote of swing states from within.
["I have long proposed covering Trump like the weather in the daily paper. Keep tabs in section 4…and front-page if something pivotal/dangerous happens.
For example: the recent FL rally would be in section 4."]
What this does is observe, but not sensationalize…and, if necessary, report, based on the seriousness of the story
So far the wealthy media moguls, the Republicans true base, have held strong and supported downplaying January 6 as an almost nothing burger rather than the 12 alarm, hair on fire, constitutional crisis it truly is. If the national media ever wakes up to just how serious Trump’s coup attempt was we might see the GOP change tunes, but until then, the GOP will pretend there was no treason and no reason to throw a whole lot of sorry asses in jail. Broderism will keep the Democrats on the sideline.
This is going to become increasingly commonplace. Wingnuts everywhere are motivated to actions far beyond marching around strapped and heckling snowflakes. School boards, city councils, local elected officials will slowly become populated with these people. As will private organizations like VFW, Grange, Sertoma, etc.
Yep: the reactionary gun types clearly believe that the 2nd Amendment was written to allow them to forcibly overturn the government if they don’t like what it is doing.
“Tyranny of the majority,” or some such drivel. (ed.)
If they destroy their own country because of Donald Trump (who cares for no one besides himself) these GOPers are tipping over to tribalist adolescence.
We are going to have to treat propaganda as a source for chaos, and become more selective in our literacy. The Fourth Estate is still influenced by that.
We showed a great amount of civic literacy during the Trump years. Johnathan Alter was conspicuous in lauding it.
