There’s two very distinct types that call themselves “libertarian,” the ones who actually have some philosophical grounding in it and the ones who just use it as convenient shorthand for “I don’t wanna pay taxes or follow rules.”
Both are full of shit, but different kinds of shit.
The philosophical kind, which includes Cato (and sometimes also Rand Paul), you might call the constipated libertarians. Their beliefs are solid, but require an awful lot of straining and grunting to make them fit with reality.
The others, by far the more common type, are the diarrheic libertarians: runny, disgusting, inconsistent, and mostly just making a big mess everywhere.

The courts are doing their job, but the administration is defying many of their rulings and orders, and it now appears SCOTUS is trying to remove their ultimate power which is contempt.

I suspect it’s being driven by bots & made to be salient via Facebook.
Also can I just say that that Jake Tapper book’s title Original Sin was a sure tell that whoever chose it is an asshole.
Not a word I care for, but what others work when a situation so fraught & difficult is portrayed so starkly & in such moralistic terms? What reporter or editor ever had to decide how to win an election when the #2 on deck, Kamala Harris, had shown such poor capacity to think on her feet in debate, & even subsequently on the campaign trail jumped on this stupid “no taxes on tips” bandwagon (as a former kitchen staffer who didn’t get a share in tips, what is “no taxes on tips” going to do to how I feel about tipping well?).
The Dems & those around the White House were in a pickle. & now all we hear about is how they committed some kind of a crime against the country. This is a hobby horse for idiots and jackals. And for people who somehow can’t get off of it and get their eyes on the ball.
“Anyone can beat Trump, anyone other than Biden.” Neglecting how the people listed, including Republican never-Trumpers, got creamed in elections. God help us all. Also screw this situation. The coup state creeps are going to miss the law at some point, but it’ll be too late, for them, for us, for everything. “Payback” we hear about from Trump; “Retribution.” Wait 'til they see what retribution looks like for actual crimes.

Let’s diagnose them. They are itching to move to deporting citizens for torture. They won’t stop at “naturalized.”
No quarter should be given should they do this to any of us. They are a coup state, apostate and criminal, treasonous. They will pay, and the darker the crimes, the darker the recompense. They will be shown the mercy they display.

That is the insane part, they are doing zip in assuring their dominance. All they have are threats and brute tactics. Shock and awe only goes so far and they have already harmed people in a very short time. They live in a fantasy world of their own making, thinking up facts and truths that are not, believing it will all work their way in the end. They are less prepared for when the flex comes than most dictators and autocracies in the past. If they are modeling themselves after some of the strongmen of today, they are not paying attention to the cultures that they developed from.
