MO Guv. Vows To Pardon Gun Couple After Prosecutor Slaps Them With Criminal Charges

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (R) pledged on Monday night to pardon St. Louis couple Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who were both charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon earlier that day for pointing their guns at nonviolent Black Lives Matter protesters walking past their home last month.

So throw out the governor and then charge them.

This is the same stupid son-of-a-bitch who’s demanding that all schoolkids return at the usual return date. He’s going to kill children and teachers and he’s going to pardon these drunken gun-toting ambulance chasers–which is all very on-brand for a GOP governor.

He’s a county sheriff who’s wayyy above the Peter Principle line. Frankly, as a Missourian, I’d rather go back to Greitens.

You know, we should try to get TPM to put in for every one of these Gooper assholes the year s/he is up for re-election, so we can do a focus list. Get ‘em all out.

I hope they take them to court and if they are found guilty, the governor will be forced to pardon them. Keeping it in the news should hurt him in the next election, particularly if the jury finds them guilty.

Hey, what good are our guns if we can’t point em at people?

I agree. If the Governor is so eager to allow people with privilege to act outside of the law, then he should pardon those who have done so.
So, no matter what the GOP is going to try to claim in their campaigns, it isn’t only Dotard who has contempt for the law. It’s the entire party.
Proceed, Governor.

Maybe this numbskull should read up on all the lawsuits these people have brought over the years. They’ve sued family, their neighborhood and work places. These are not what I call good citizens, they’re reactionaries that think they can solve anything with a lawsuit.

To Trumpian shitheads like this, the law means nothing. Gah! What is wrong with these people?! This is horrible.

OT: Portland story.

Michelle Goldberg has a column today in the NYT

I think we can call it stunt fascism at this point. Most of this is to get footage for Hannity. Indeed, it is only backed by a narrow slice of the upper officials in the Trump administration. Everybody else is confused as to who and why this is happening. It also creates noise for the bigger issue of whether it makes sense to move away from the city. Maybe one pandemic is tolerable, but multiple pandemics or waves of the current one would reverse gentrification trends.

That’d be fine if the Lt. Gov. isn’t of like mind.

It’s kinda like throwing Trump out - would Pence be any better?

So when’s this noodnik up for election again?

The normal course of a pardon is that a case is heard in court, with evidence presented by the prosecution and defense, a verdict is rendered…and THEN the higher authority makes an assessment if justice was served or if there was an egregious violation of the rules of trial that warrants clemency.

This governor is pre-judging the case, having heard or viewed zero evidence beyond that which has been publicly reported, simply for the benefit of politics. Another absurd abuse of the pardon power.

You have to admit it’s a little unfair. If it were a black couple pointing guns at a group of whites they wouldn’t be facing charges. They’d been killed by the police on the spot.

Then honestly, Maddow and the others should run it just as well with the narrative of attacking citizens during peaceful protests. Run it. Show them tear-gassing folks without weapons and not creating enormous disturbances.

Show it for what it is in all its glory.

A third of Americans support this, but like all wars, once they see the battle, they suddenly figure out it’s not all that.

Make it the starting story on the evening news, just like Vietnam.

“I’ll do everything within the constitution of the state of Missouri to protect law-abiding citizens, and those people are exactly that. They’re law-abiding citizens.”

IOKIYAR in action.

And no, threatening unarmed protesters with guns is not “law-abiding”.

It would be easy to throw out this incompetent if the Democratic party had a presence in Missouri. As it is the Democratic party has abandoned the state because it follows the same failed culture war strategy as the Republicans that has divided the nation into red states and blue states.

No mask mandate in MO, either. Brilliant leadership.

Missouri has an ignorant rube problem - the Gov.

Has gotten swept up in this “I’ll just decide what I think should be the law & that will be that” stupidity .
