Mo Brooks Now Calls Capitol Rioters ‘Fools’ | Talking Points Memo

Very interesting. The Republican Speaker of the House in Texas may have deliberately appointed a lightweight to lead voter suppression efforts in order to sabotage it.

My take is that Brooks was all in for some insurrection, he had no problem saying what he said at the 01/06 rally. Then he decides he wants to run for AL senator again and has to modify his message. He does this by his interview with AL.com. But then dismisses some of what he did say in the interview, by blaming the online news site for “inserting words” he didn’t say. Now if you’re an average AL Republican that is on the fence on how Trumpy Brooks is, you read the article and say '“he’s not that bad”, but his true base will check his email messages or twitter feed to see him disown some of the reporting.
I’m thinking his internal polling is not where he wants it.

I wish someone would ask Brooks since over the years he has winked and nodded at support for secession, why he wants to be in the United States senate and how that conflicts with his supposed love for America.

They “kicked ass” of people who had nothing to do with whatever the hell they were ‘protesting’. I doubt even they can define what they were protesting.

That and the fact he is running for Senator and realizes the insurrection is not polling well. No better predictor that the GQP is in deep trouble.

“Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass,” Brooks said at the Ellipse on Jan. 6.

So now he’s playing the Sydney Powell defense card, i.e., that no reasonable person would take his words seriously? Good luck with that, asshole.

Most of his incitement was at the Ellipse, on stage, audio, cameras…

Cobb County, Georgia had their Inherit the wind moment a decade and a half ago with the case of Selman v. Cobb County.

I asked them if they were willing to risk their lives and those fools went and did so.

Too bad, so sad that nobody’s been able to find any evidence of serious fraud. /s

They seem to have thought if they yelled enough they would scare the Congress into violating their oaths of office and unethically tossing millions of valid votes out.

And they’ve been trying to have it both ways – arguing ‘we know that there was real fraud out their but we didn’t actually intend to do anything about it – we just wanted to talk about it.’

Somebody ask Mo a simple question: After inciting those “fools” to march down to the Capitol and “take back their country,” what exactly did he expect them to do?

People storming the United States Capitol on 6 January 2021 were not very subtle. This statement by Brooks will not please them, no matter how Brooks and his Crew try to spin it.
