MN AG Keith Ellison Appointed To Take Lead In Criminal Case Over George Floyd’s Death

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) announced on Sunday that Keith Ellison, the state’s attorney general, will head the criminal case on the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died after white police officer Derek Chauvin dug his knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes during an arrest last week.

As it should have been from the beginning.

Not sure what this does for the cause, but if that’s going to bring some calm to the situation, then fine.

First thing is to arrest the other three fellows. Even police officials are calling for that.

Here’s hoping that working together constructively means charges against the other officers and a re-evaluation of the charges against
Chauvin. Keeping his knee of Floyd’s neck and keeping him prone even after another officer suggested moving him to a safer position and then keeping his knee there for 3 minutes after Floyd went unconscious and for more then a minute after another officer announced he could not find a pulse is enough to bring a stronger murder charge. If he had immediately started CPR, it probably would have been hard to prove more than manslaughter, or maybe Minnesota’s version of Murder 3. But he didn’t even relax his knee placement when he felt Floyd go limp, or when he knew his victim had no pulse.
Generally, prosecutors are not known for undercharging as opposed to heaping on in anticipation of plea negotiations or a trial in which lesser included charges can be given as an option to the jury.

And that’s why the other three MUST be arrested. They not only stood by, but the video shows them participating in the restraint at times.

It’s all on tape and a second one surfaced later in the week.

All this for passing a bad twenty dollar bill.

This is a racist’s nightmare- just second to a Black POTUS.

The Big Con is always the most obvious.

Trump World has done a masterful job of turning 35% of the population into what appears to be a majority. There is a daily assault by Trump every day on the legal, moral and normative bases of our society. The U.S. Senate, representing about 20% of the population, is in the hands of the worst collection of Right Wingers in 100 years.

Trump is, himself, a huge WWF (Wrestling-for-entertainment) figure, one who divides and repulses but one who generates attention. This is important. Trump’s instincts are totalitarian and fascist, but there have been legions of dictators who have been low-key and mostly unseen.

We have been put in a wringer by Team Trump.

The difference NOW in his “presidency” from all the days and weeks and months before is that the death of George Floyd has presented him with a crisis worse than even COVID. So far, Trump has gotten the rubes and minions to suppress the horror of this virus. George Floyd, however, has unleashed emotions pent-up from not only the racism of Trump himself, but the racism the United States has always possessed.

@redpill thanks for your glimpses of New Zealand and UK…highlights racists here even more

Keith Ellison, a black Muslim public servant, in charge of the prosecution of a white policeman. This is the very definition of Trump’s rage. Have the doctors standing by. He might have a stroke.

Does Ellison have any experience prosecuting felonies? Has he ever tried a murder case? I’d like to leave this in the hands of those with experience. I don’t want this murder walking.

I predict that Barr will step in shortly after the investigation gets started to declare that the cops can’t get a fair trial.

Not a fan of Keith Ellison but he is the elected AG. This move is consistent with an important reform that Harris and other cj reformers have wanted to see: local DAs shouldn’t be involved in the investigation and prosecution of cops that they work with every day. Walz has done a good job here taking some control of things.

Trump’s gonna shit his diaper. A black MUSLIN prosecuting the case?

Wait for the unhinged Trump tweets in 3 . 2 . 1 . . .

The ME is setting them up for a walk. He found no signs of strangulation and ‘claims’ prior, as yet unknown, existing health conditions responsible for his death. That, and the unknown toxic substances yet to be determined. They will walk.

Even if there is video evidence, prosecutors don’t want to make the same mistake with Trayvon Martin where they charged Zimmerman with 1st degree murder and then Zimmerman got acquitted.

Zimmerman scored a racist judge. Who was thrown out by the voters next election.

He’s the state AG. He has a big and experienced staff. That he is in charge doesn’t necessarily mean he will personally handle the case in court.
