Yet another curveball has been thrown into 2020’s already truncated baseball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
OMG!! Who could have possibly predicted this would happen?!
But schools are OK to open, amirite?
Trying to figure out who is stupider, the people who thought starting the season right now was in any way a good idea or flat Earthers.
They could have had a decent season, but it required states to embrace a lockdown. However, the owners didn’t yell it loud enough, soooooo…
I think if the batter gets within 6 feet of first base after hitting the ball he should be safe. And that catcher should back up, there’s not 6 feet between him and the batter. Just sayin’…
Both works
the correct decision to ensure we take a collective pause and try to properly grasp the totality of this situation.”
Idiots. The “totality” is has been graspable for months.
Of course. They’re not multi-millionaire players who have to be coddled.
Worst-case, you just make another one.
True. Unlike grown men playing a game, children are essential workers.
Please do the right thing. Anything short of immediately shutting it down will be a catastrophe.
Don’t really need schools, though. Since the only reason to get them back to school is to free up mommy and daddy to force them back to work, could just round kids up and throw them in cages.
CBP already has boots on the ground in major cities and a lot of experience in this aspect of things, so probably put them in charge.
Right now the NFL should be taking notes. About how to gracefully cancel their season. I suspect, instead, they’re constructing ideas on how to form a 6-month long “player’s bubble”.
And college football? Notta chance in hell.
Can it be both?
2019 Miami Marlins:
57 wins, 105 losses
Bottom of the NL East
40 games behind in the division race
I’d say this emergency is coming at just the right time for the team.
Maybe they had a covid party for just this reason?
Not sure of the numbers, but say all major sports (professional and amateur) cancel their seasons, or instead they die a slow, protracted death. It wouldn’t surprise me if the total cost to cities, advertisers, leagues, universities, vendors and other affiliated or support businesses totaled a trillion dollars.
If all of the Sport’s World would cancel their seasons, maybe we would be able to test real people not athletes.
Tone deaf much
The NFL’s policy is (and I’m not making this up) if you get COVID from ‘non-football activities’, it’s you’re fault and you’re subject to not getting paid if your team doesn’t want to. But otherwise, they’re moving ahead as normal.
