A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
In little-noticed remarks hours after the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn (R) told reporters that his state’s abortion ban shouldn’t be changed to include an exception for victims of rape and incest, even for 12-year-old incest victims impregnated by their fathers, because “Every life is valuable.” Gunn’s remarks didn’t get much pickup locally untilyesterday.
That’s for hypocritical GQPers. What the Democratic Party needs is new blood.
And best wishes to Senator Leahy. Men recover from broken hips better than women of the same age, so let’s hope for the best. And for younger members of the party to step up.
I’m not sure why everyone is so up in arms about this. Look at it this way: everyone of those babies is a potential gun buyer, and you cannot restrict that, you just can’t. Because, “muh freedumb!”
The answer to every question from now until election day is: I’m glad you asked about my position on tariffs on chinese goods, did you know my opponent is a member of the party that is trying to make women property?
The committee noted in the subpoena that Cipollone has already had an informal interview with the panel on April 13, but has since “declined to cooperate with us further, including by providing on-the-record testimony.”
You have to wonder at this point if he’s refusing cooperation to protect Thump, or himself. Either way is still a losing proposition. Face the music, Cipollone. The bell has tolled for thee.
As a rhetorical gambit, forcing these people to play righteous against anything the Left says is really pretty good. They will say anything as long as we hate it: the central tenet of their faith is that we are wrong. You can lead them a lot of places with that one.
Not sure if the Democratic Party is capable of weaponizing/monetizing this kind of thing; so far they have failed to characterize immigrants at the southern border as ‘Christians’, so I am not sure they know how to play this game.
Characterizing those that love the land as environmentalists is another own goal. Also, as we go into July 4th, a failure to employ the heady scent of gaudy patriotism. I mean, come on now. America begins with a fuck you on a tin flute.
