PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — As the world races to find a vaccine and a treatment for COVID-19, there is seemingly no antidote in sight for the burgeoning outbreak of coronavirus conspiracy theories, hoaxes, anti-mask myths and sham cures.

In about 3 days when the money runs out and people are thrown out on the street and are starving to death , shit gonna get real
I nearly lost my mind this morning listening to some Republican senator bemoaning the fact that people were "making " $600 a week on unemployment and that it’s too bad but people lose their jobs all the time
$600 a week = $15 an hour . Poverty wages in any city over 10000 people
So fucking clueless as to be contemptible for his stupidity and lack of compassion

Trumpism is highly contagious,
Moreover
Trumpism is also highly lethal…
Just ask pandemic denier Herman Cain!
Hear that Gohmert?

If you listen quietly, you can hear Louie Gohmert blaming Herman Cain’s mask and his Doctor’s refusal to give him hydroxychloroquine…

no one should die unnecessarily but I wonder if Cain believed in Rumpian theories on C19 and this is the result
My counter-argument to all the mask skeptics is look at Japan. No lockdown, 1,001 total deaths from COVID so far. Guess why.

Why don’t zombie films include these real-world examples of denialism?
“Sure. I’ll turn into an undead if I let someone bite me. Here. Hold my beer.”

In many Asian countries they don a mask at the threat of a sniffle. People living in close proximity to one another have learned that it is the clearest way they can help not giving it to others. When I lived in Japan i used these, Sun Million Mask…

Hydroxychloroquine treatment can cause bone marrow depression, anaemia, aplastic anaemia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, and porphyria exacerbation. Risk factors include use of high doses and long-term use. Periodic full blood counts are recommended for patients on long-term therapy. It can potentially result in adverse effects on the central nervous system, mainly irritability, nervousness, emotional changes, nightmares, and even true psychoses.
My Life Partner took them for malaria before going to Haiti to work after the big earthquake years back. The effects on her in the long term were very bad. I eventually had to commit her to a psych ward. It was freaking scary that is all I’m saying. No worries, she is fine now but it was a journey.

My co-worker is terrified of getting sick but she also believes every bit of misinformation you can come up with. From she already had it so she’s immune to they count multiple positive tests on sick people multiple times, adding to the new case counts, to kids don’t get it and so on. Sadly, I think she’s like an ever growing group of Americans who are fatigued with this illnesses threats and is slowly moving into the denier stage.

Seems like it’s a ethnic thing… my neighbor put his house for sale, and had a very successful open house, and from the distance you could tell the ethnicity of the potential buyers… East and south Asians all wore masks, but not a single Caucasian couple could be bothered to show respect to other peoples homes and wear a mask for 15 freaking minutes… although the interracial couple that I saw did.

Sure it’s contagious.
Information that fits a sick narrative is in itself sick.
In the meantime, I’d suggest that deniers go have a talk with Herman Cain’s family this morning and see how much of a hoax this is.

Someone else already put this very succinctly.

The reason our country is doing so terribly is that the right wing media has destroyed our immunity to bullshit over the last 3 decades by the constant release of toxic ideas with lies and amoral scams… The internet dispenses it like the world’s biggest aerosol can.
Unfortunately, they forgot to make an antidote.
