You can file this under ‘This is some bad JuJu, and they probably know something that they’re not telling us’.
This is a Death Knell for MAGA.
Those who are thinking about the Military.
If there was a bigger example of shooting oneself in the foot, I’d like to see it.
“…may have other invisible damage…”
Yes, there’s evidence that survivors may have “micro thrombosis”.
Are they going to discharge all those who caught it while in the service? Probably will be a general or dishonorable discharge cuz they got sick? That way they don’t have to pay VA benefits. /s
1 of 4 draftees was 4F in WW2. Any number of things can get one to flunk a physical.
He’d like to use the military for certain purposes but is limited by its composition. Please remember the type of nuts he runs with.
Anybody willing to cage children …
““During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying,” the memorandum reads.”
so what is that all about?
I am sort of reading in a scatter shot fashion, so I may be repetitive.
I was sort of going on the tone of the article and some of the comments I have seen so far. One thing I was thinking of was the finding of children who suffered virus with Kawasaki type conditions. And then there is the long term organ damage including the lungs indicated for others. So I am wondering if they are seeing more reporting than we have so far publicly.
Those are general discharges “under honorable conditions” is the phrase so as not to damage a person’s life.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking. If survivors can have blood clots, the strenuous activity in basic training might trigger a stroke or some other complication. And the clotting might not show up as a problem in a physical.
Yes RonByers, I think you are on to the question the article means to beg but dances around at best:
Does the military know something not known by everyone else about the seriousness of the long term effects of COVID-19, even for young people?
Any such information is critical to decisions being made on the extent and duration of ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.
Ok, ok, you’re probably right. Thats a logical thing to say. (This is what makes you YOU. )
But I just HATE agreeing with anything this administration does. You generally cant trust a fuckin’ thing they do.
Nothing that’s not available to everyone else, just the research that’s out there to date.
Which is certainly enough to be concerned that a case now may have complications that last for months or years, or could even be permanently disabling in one or more ways.
The military tends to be risk-averse, don’t want to spend a lot of money on a recruit who is broken and will have to leave the service anyway in short order due to physical problems.
Banning COVID-19 survivors does not help though. These are currently only a small fraction of potential enlistees. They need to test everyone who enlists.
Right with you. Would caveat that this is down in the bowels of the Pentagon, nobody at the top is creative enough to come up with something like this as a nefarious tool. This is the medical folks making a best-guess until more data arrives.
The dichotomy between the Trumpsterism that animates the lies used by (1) Trump (2) the GOP (3) FOX (4) Trump’s minions
VERSUS
Grown-up people looking at grown-up info making grown-up decisions is breathtaking.
Yeah there are still tons of decent people trying to make government work. This is the literal deep state that makes things function day to day. As soon as it becomes a political issue, stupid takes over.
No problem with that. It is the same thinking that kept me out of the military. My risk of a serious infection from a chronic condition was high. I hated the decision, but later on, yeah, they were right.
Oh please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please…
