I know many on here are high on the Mamdani win but this and Virginia are the big ones. Trump was on the ballot in these states and he got crushed. New Yorkers already know Trump is a fraud. His endorsement meant nothing.

I hope you’re right.
But another possibility is that they simply can’t retreat – retreat is defeat.
That is, they’re dealing with the political equivalent of Hitler’s generals at war. They can kinda see the tide turning, but they’ve got their identities so tied up with promoting his cult that they can’t return to being normal politicians without eating simply undigestable amounts of crow.
On top of that, if they become apostates, the base will eat them alive.

A state and local politician from central New Jersey, he once derided Trump as “a charlatan who is out of step with American values” and “not fit to be President of the United States.”

I see an image in my mind’s eye of the first R who sticks his head up from the trench and is hit by ‘friendly’ fire. There will be more than a few. Then we will see if they (please note I am not switching my metaphor to Hitler’s Bunker out of respect for Godwin’s Law) collectively grow a spine or continue down the shitter with Trump.
