One of the six men charged federally last year with plotting the kidnapping of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) has pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to kidnap charge and pledged to cooperate with federal authorities.
I am hoping we see this with some of the January 6 Insurrectionists. You know…the ones who just caught up in events and now are terrified of the consequences. Get a few of them to cooperate and dominoes will start falling.
Politics has changed in this country with the large number of heavily armed crazy people out there, and the legitimate status they are now accorded. How are we supposed to conduct government when there are armed “militias” who out-gun law enforcement, and are both convinced of their insane beliefs and willing to act on them? Rhetorical question.
I get the feeling that, when they start to do the math and imagine the years slipping by in a prison yard, there’s gonna be a lot more cooperation from the ‘hard core’ lot involved in 1/6’s insurrection.
They don’t like self-quarantining, so I can’t imagine incarceration’ll sit well with them.
And the seditionists in congress and senate, and trump’s main traitor/grifters (Stone, Flynn, Bannon, Giuliani, etc.) all treat them like the disposable worker ants, the collateral damage they always were.
Feds are way behind as to what they know about our domestic terrorists. They know they have a steep learning curve in front of them. Trouble is, it’s likely some of the terrorists are working in the alphabet soup of gov’t law enforcement already.
Government conspiracy movie meets post-Trump America.
What beats the fuck out of me is how any Drumpfist would sanely enter into a criminal conspiracy with another: the man they idealize would throw any of them under the bus to avoid having to cross a street. It would seem reasonable for his followers to expect a similar complete lack of loyalty from their fellows.
That would, of course, mistakenly assume they are grounded in observable experience, however.
