Chump demanded the lawyers dump the 1000s of psycho affidavits on the courts and the lawyers complied or got replaced quickly with other stooges. To Trump, things like the affidavit credibility, admissibility, and principles of law were unimportant—he just needed suits to shake a lot of papers for the TV cameras.
Trump was looking to generate confusion to slow down the voting certification process enough that SCOTUS could step in to settle matters ala Bush v. Gore.
When SCOTUS rejected the opportunity to do his bidding, Trump focused on getting VP Pence to halt Congress from certifying the vote even though I doubt he had planned what would happen after that.
Trump was no doubt astonished that he could not get Pence to simply adjourn congress without completing the certification, but he had a backup plan. His followers would “peacefully” occupy the Capitol Building to stop the certification. In preparation for this contingency, Trump got his lackeys to minimize the resistance his followers would encounter as they swarmed into the Capitol by making sure the Capital Police were underequipped and without immediate backup. But enough Capitol Police rose to the occasion in a display of heroism for which we as a country can never be grateful enough.
At this point, there needs to be a cleanup of the record, to dispel claims of voter fraud.
