The Republican candidates for Michigan governor who just a few days ago were considered frontrunners to take on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) will remain off the ballot as the state prepares for its August primary. The state Board of Canvassers was right when it kept them off of the ballot due to thousands of forged or otherwise invalid signatures, multiple Michigan courts ruled this week.
There is a money trail that will need to be looked at.
The Bureau identified 68,000 invalid signatures from an initial review, and did not find a single valid signature after spot-checking around 7,000 of them against the state file, officials said.
There is a certain zeal for incompetence here that I can’t help but appreciate.
There’s something lovely about this debacle, like watching a train wreck transform into an opulent bouquet.
Tom Brady played for Michigan. He has to have some connection to all this. I mean, the guy has a moat. And he doesn’t age. So, you know.
Why would they want to stay in the race? OK if they weren’t caught cheating their asses off but they got caught and I can’t see that helping them much in an election. NO ONE’s going to buy the ridiculous “we didn’t know” crap they offer. They’d enter the race as proven cheaters and lairs. Why bother?
Is this guy running for evangelist? Although props for keeping that suit in such fine shape since 1977.
Now I want an investigation that shows that the other Republican candidates–especially the deVos one–bribed the signature collectors to fake the signatures, so the other candidates are in the slammer by election time.

Why would you bribe the other candidates’ vote gatherers when they already have a lengthy history of, and at least one criminal conviction for, forging voter signatures on these kinds of petitions? Signature fraud is the reason you hire signature fraudsters.

I hadn’t realized until this article that the Board of Canvassers kicked them off the ballot on a party-line vote.
Not knowing Michigan election law myself, which qualifies me as a “Republican front runner” I guess, is the board composition evenly split between the parties?
PS - Just checked, and yes the Board of Canvassers is evenly divided. The 2 Trump Party members voted to keep them on the ballot. The 2 Democratic representatives voted to kick them off (agreed with Board of Elections recommendation to boot them). The deadlock meant the Board of Elections ruling to remove them stood.
