Actually, the daughter of a very liberal neighbor, a single mom, will be a senior in September. She started on a softball scholarship, but she didn’t play very much. She ended up joining the NG for tuition help. She’s a great kid and a hard worker.

Neither mom nor daughter are religious, and that hasn’t changed.

The experience might vary tremendously by department.

In addition to the Biology professors who weren’t convinced about the fundamental findings of their discipline, the students I met were very proud of the breadth of their religion department. It had one Pentecostal professor and I think one Calvinist. The rest were all Dutch Reformed.

Of course, my experiences are a good 20 years out of date. Things do change.

I’m glad your friend’s daughter has had a good experience.

Goat cheese and fig jam. Put it on a cracker, put it n a Ritz. I can’t wait for the farmer’s markets to get going again. I wonder how well it freezes so I can have it all next winter. That’s how good it is.

Years ago I had several goat cheese and fig canapes at a wedding. They were so friggin good I have never forgotten them.
