MI Legislature Buildings Shut Down For Electoral College Vote Due To ‘Credible Threats’

Let’s face it, it’s because the Michigan State Legislature led by Republicans, didn’t amend the state’s gun laws when they had the chance to include a restriction on guns in the State Capitol building, even when they had ongoing credible threats against public officials. This all could have been predicted, but instead they sat on their hands since last August and did nothing rather than upset The Base.

This will encourage those same bozos and ammosexuals in tRump’s base, as part of the Michigan militia movement, to go after those electors at their homes, just like they seem intent to do with anyone they deem insufficiently committed to their cause to keep tRump in office by hook or by crook. Just watch. That’ll probably come next.

Time to start throwing these bastards into jail for their felonies.
If they won’t come peacefully when arrested, fine.

The Michigan electors for Biden home addresses are public knowledge sadly. And I am not gonna provide a link.
edit
I thought that making those addresses public was wrong in today’s climate of near anarchy in several states among the extreme right.

Yep. What a hypocrite. And read this tangled web od nonsense:

Shirkey, R-Clarklake, said there were demonstrations inside the Capitol four years ago when electors met to vote for President Donald Trump. He contended First Amendment rights should be protected and the Michigan State Police can handle threats that have been levied ahead of the convening of President-elect Joe Biden’s electors.
“I think it’s bad judgment and worse than that,” Shirkey said in response to questions from The Detroit News.

On Sunday evening, the Michigan House and Senate announced they will close their offices in downtown Lansing on Monday. Shirkey’s spokeswoman Amber McCann said Sunday night the Senate closed its offices based on “recommendations from law enforcement.” The decision was not based on anticipated protests but on “credible threats of violence,” McCann said.

Shirkey said his thoughts on whether the Capitol should be open Monday would change if the Michigan State Police identified specifics about the threats. The state police agency has the ability to properly protect people, he said.

Can the police stop bullets with their bare hands, Shirkey?

OT I suppose, but I don’t believe that 77% of those identifying selves as GOP really believe in a “stolen” election. They just can’t all be that delusional. I think the question gives them a chance to troll.

Can they just send him out to deal with the protestors?

A friendly audience.

Bad judgment, Shirkey? Bad judgment is allowing open carry in the Michigan Capitol. Republicans are full of bad judgment which puts other people at risk.

Exactly. If you’d asked me the same question four years ago, maybe out of an abundance of hope and partly trolling, I would have said that Trump would never be president. We spend a lot of time hand-wringing about whether Biden would be seen as a legitimate president because of Trumpers, but I doubt any of them spent a day worrying about whether we would see Trump as a legitimate president. Democrats doubting Trump’s legitimacy didn’t stop him from “governing,” and it won’t stop Biden either. If Republicans try to block everything he does, it’s not because they question his legitimacy. It’s because he’s a Democrat and they’re assholes.

Well put.
Exactly the reasoned, diplomatic phrasing I would expect from a former Vikings kicker.

I suspect that the state police assigned to Lansing today will have been, among other things, looking for signs that they aren’t going to pull a McVeigh or plant IEDs near the parking area.

If something like that were to be discovered, Shirkey would be my first call.
