It might’ve been better if this had waited another month or so, so that a pardon wouldn’t even be on the radar. But maybe, just maybe, this will be enough to deter a couple of copycat scenarios going forward.

It has always been unclear to me about what masterminds like this would do post caper…as though people responsible in law enforcement would shrug their shoulders and get on with their lives rather than do their jobs… track down the perps and bring them to justice.

I understand, but the concept I was addressing was the idea that Trump would pardon these folks before the federal charges were heard.
Had the indictment not been issued until February, the pardon idea would have no legs, because Biden sure as hell would never do anything like this. Remember that Trump is revving up the pardon machine before he leaves office, forcibly or otherwise. It wouldn’t surprise me if he stuck this one in there too.
