The long, painful death of President Trump’s bid to steal the election is getting closer to final breathes, with another key state certifying his defeat on Monday.
Norman Shinkle – who is the presiding judge of the Tax Appeal board refused to certify. He should be subjected to criminal investigation for conspiracy, and also stripped of his day job. No one who is a conspiratorial nut case should have any position of authority and trust. And not just the MI AG should investigate him, but Biden’s DOJ should too, for violation of the voting rights act.
OTOH, Aaron Van Langevelde, who is a practicing lawyer, and counsel for the Republican MI house members, did his duty. He should be commended for it, and hopefully does not suffer any retribution. If he does, the MI AG should go after whomever goes after him.
There need to be consequences, serious consequences, for people who knowingly attempt to subvert election results. We can’t just say “oh, well, survived that narrowly.” Deterrence is needed, and badly needed.
Ok, so I saw earlier that the issue in PA was with Delaware county getting itself certified, if I recall correctly.
For those that don’t know PA, Delaware County is adjacent to Philadelphia. It is home to the city of Chester which, for as long as I lived there, was mostly POC in terms of population. It is home to what was formerly the Crozier-Chester hospital, among other things home to one of the best burn centers in the country.
This is a nearly entirely urban county, with both I-95 and US-1 running through it.
Not sure what the issue is with them getting their certification completed and why they need more time than the other 60 or 70 counties in the State.
Anyone…??? @mattinpa, this isn’t that far away from you - what’s the hold up?
My blood pressure just went down a little. Truly I started sleeping better immediately after we saw Biden was the winner. Then, as Trump tried to run out the clock on certification in order to throw things to the (he hoped) corrupt GOP legislatures and then maybe SCOTUS, my stress came back. This is a healthy step toward getting rid of Trump, at least in the WH. I think stealing the election in multiple states is just too heavy a lift–it no longer looks like remediating the problems in a single state; it starts looking like trying to “fix” things and no one wants to be part of that (well, maybe Shinkle, but no whole state).
I give this development a thumbs up. If we get either PA or WI or GA certified next, then even if he gets the other two states to join in his corruption, he STILL doesn’t have enough votes. Man, I hate the electoral college. DC and PR statehood now!
I’m sure there’s a coven of GOP lawyers somewhere, noting which party members are sufficiently loyal to throw a wrench in an election when they really need it. But still – I’ll take Mr. Shinkle’s shirking of short-shrifting today.
No idea, sorry. As a resident of a county that always viewed the Delaware County folks as yahoos, it could simply be some kind of screwup, not really political. I hasten to add there are some very nice parts of Delaware County, but you wouldn’t know that by a couple guys I used to play in a band with some while back.
On April 26, 2012, Shinkle, serving on the Michigan State elections Board of Canvasers, along with co-Republican Jeffrey Timmer, voted to reject[3] almost a quarter million voter signatures for a ballot initiative to repeal the Michigan Public Act 4 — Michigan’s Emergency Manager law.[4] The two Republicans rejected the petitions, saying that the “font size was not 14 point”, despite testimony from the printer that it was. The Republicans ruled that the font size of the letter “N” was smaller than required by state law, thereby invalidating the signatures.
