MI GOP Leader Apologizes For ‘Words I Chose’ When He Falsely Claimed Insurrection Was A ‘Hoax’

Michigan state Senate Leader Mike Shirkey (R) half-apologized on Tuesday night after a viral video showed him falsely claiming that the violent insurrection ex-President Donald Trump unleashed upon the Capitol on January 6 was not carried out by the former president’s supporters.

But what does it mean??

"I have many flaws. Being passionate coupled with an occasional lapse in restraint of tongue are at least two of them,” Shirkey said.

These flaws are disqualifying for anyone seeking a leadership role, when the result is the fountain of bullshit that you spewed to perpetuate horrible lies and excuse the abhorrent behavior of your followers.

Resign.

I just wish that for once these weasels owned their idiocy. What is the old saying, “integrity is how you behave when no one is waching”?

What he meant to say was “I am sorry that I was caught on tape…” not that he was sorry for what he said.

He cannot admit that the insurrection is real or he will be censured by the Michigan GOP.

But your honor, I’m not guilty of robbing that bank. I’m just passionate about money.

“I said some things in a videoed conversation that are not fitting for the role I am privileged to serve. I own that. I have many flaws. Being passionate coupled with an occasional lapse in restraint of tongue are at least two of them,” Shirkey said in a statement.

Restraint of tongue is not what Shirkey needs. He need restraint of brain, so it doesn’t wander into conspiracy-land and lose itself there.

"…and I apologize for my insensitive comments?” Insensitive?? How about “I am sorry I lied.”

What an asshole!

His comment wasn’t just some slip of the tongue, saying “who” instead of “whom” or something. He was making an extended statement of what he clearly believed were “facts.” An “oopsy” doesn’t cut it. He needs to go.
