These two individuals should not be protected from legal action. They should need to defend their actions in a public court of law where they can be questioned under oath for interfering with an election.

Longtime editor here, though not for TPM. This happened after business hours last night, as far as I can tell, and it may in fact be an entirely unprecedented thing. We’ve gotten used to that recently. So with one thing and another it may be hard to find authorities who can comment by first thing the next day.

Will people explain what the problem is with doing an audit? I see this as a once in a lifetime chance to show how bogus and racist Republican fraud claims are, which could help democrats a whole lot long-term. To play into their narrative helps THEM long-term. Who would do the audit? What are the pitfalls? Really interested to hear from someone who understands this and actually knows stuff.

According to the Detroit News, they want to rescind their votes due to “intense bullying and coercion.” It seems to me that the “intense bullying and coercion” came after they cast their votes.
Trump threw a tantrum on Wednesday after the board certified the election, claiming that the GOP canvassers were “FORCED to change their vote.”

Look, this is all bullshit. They knew their audit request wouldn’t be binding when they first folded because all the voters yelled at them. That was just face-saving. Then the Republicans including fucking Trump yelled at them so they rescinded their votes, and used the audit excuse to save face again.
