Federal prosecutors on Tuesday said that Sen. Bob Menendez’s (D-NJ) alleged bribery scheme was even more brazen than previously thought. In addition to accusing the Democratic senator of shilling for a new country, a superseding indictment alleges that Menendez continued to participate in the purported bribery scheme long after FBI agents first approached him in the investigation.
Of course, there will be no consequences for the foreign governments that are bribing American public officials. Bygones!

Look, obviously this guy is the standard North Jersey crooked politician. Just like I don’t think a Mayor of Atlantic City ever avoided jail for corruption, a creep like Menendez will do time. The real question is whether or not Chucky and his minions will expel him from the Senate before a trial. Fat fucking chance!
Internal poll, so take it with a grain of salt, but Menendez is toast in the NJ Dem primary:
The South Jersey congressman leads Murphy 45 percent to 22 percent among likely primary voters, according to the poll, which was first reported by The New Jersey Globe. Menendez garnered just 3 percent support in the poll.
The only question is whether he will resign in time to allow Gov Murphy to appoint his wife to the seat temporarily.
I’d hope the governor wouldn’t be so stupid as to appoint his own wife to the contested seat…

Menendez needed to be booted last year, especially as a not currently indicted replacement would be in the Senate already - though McTurtle would for sure block all the committee activities of the new person.
I wonder if Justice Thomas makes prank calls at 2 am to Menendez taunting him for being such an amateur.

I think you’ll find that a lameduck Governor will absolutely appoint his wife to an open Senate seat to help her win the primary. Gov Murphy has done a good job, but he’s still a politician.
