Who in their right mind would attend something like this? Even outside, it makes no sense. Would you enjoy the paranoia of not knowing if you were going to get Covid. All I can think of is these are desperate people that think they have to be seen and suck up to this lot. It truly should be illegal and if we had a functioning government it would be.

Who would want to go in ordinary times? It sounds like the worst event ever, except, possibly, a NY’s bash at Mar a Lago. Granted, I’m not much for parties anyway, but it sounds ghastly.

I’m going to be watching a live production tonight of A Christmas Carol put on by a local theater company. They did Othello a few months ago, allowing only half the amount of people and you had to wear a mask. Up until about 5 days ago they were doing live performances again but brought that to a halt, now it’s only online. I wasn’t going to the live performance but want to support this Shakespeare company so I’m watching something I haven’t seen in years.

I am a bit of an introvert and parties stress me out. But as soon as this shit is over I am having dinner parties every damn weekend. I took things for granted and want to spend as much time as possible with friends and loved ones. Though, I bet that lasts about a month at most…

I live in the middle of a very conservative LDS community and have a few relatives and friends in the church. In 2012, Romney was the golden boy and they were absolutely unified in their support of him. Now they can barely spit out his name when he says anything that is not reverent toward Trump. I am not sure I will ever understand exactly what is happening to our country, but I did hear a few clues today.
On the Political Gabfest podcast from Slate there is an interview with Malcom Turnbull (former PM of Australia) - worth a listen.
Also interview with Dan Wagner on Pod Save America abut how the polls are getting it so wrong in the Trump era also interesting - was probably the first story about the polls that actually really made me think some new thoughts.

U.S. District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis in Brooklyn said he was fully restoring the eight-year-old Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program to the days before the Trump administration tried to end it in September 2017. He ordered the Department of Homeland Security to post a public notice by Monday to accept first-time applications and ensure that work permits are valid for two years.
