Meet the Sleazebags, Traffic Court Lawyers and Criminal Defendents Who’ve Helped Defend Donald Trump - TPM – Talking Points Memo

When we asked recently what makes TPM different from other outlets, readers cited factors like honesty, curiosity, transparency, and our vibrant community. They also pointed to our ability to report on important stories and trends long before they are picked up by mainstream outlets; our ability to contextualize information within the arc of history; and our focus on the real-world consequences of the news.

Meet the Sleazebags, Traffic Court Lawyers and Criminal Defendents

What I want to meet is the TPM headline writer. Just me, an abridged copy of the OED, and a very small little-used desk.

Dowd didn’t represent Pete Rose. Dowd headed up MLB’s investigation of Rose’s gambling at the behest of Commissioner Bart Giamatti, and wrote the report that chronicled Rose’s wagering on baseball games in which he played and managed.

I saw what you did, smartypants.

Although it has today’s date on it, I think this article may be about 4 years old. Dowd and Cobb haven’t done anything with or for TFG in years.

oh yeah of little faith. it notes how they left during the Russia probe.

Ok, I’ll admit I stopped reading the article at that point because there was a text formatting issue (on iPhone) that made the text column about 3 words wide. Since fixed. Also, every photo/paragraph pair is titled individually, so for instance the “Michael Cohen” title appears three times.

Jenna Ellis is most famous for sucking down Ghouliani’s COVID farts. She is a moron and a hate-filled shitbag that self-describes as a Christian. She is not going to thrive in prison.

By my count at least six of those attorneys either currently have or definitely should get competent criminal defense counsel of their own – Rudy, Sidney, Jenna, Bobb, Eastman, and Corcoran.

Working for Donnie seems to be a fairly pricey proposition – not only doesn’t he pay you, you also may acquire a debt to society.

Thank you for this trip down memory lane. It needed to be done. I played a game with myself, just reading each lawyer’s name and then trying to remember which crime and lies they were associated with. I’m exhausted.

For some reason it is Jenna Ellis who got under my skin when she was on Bill Maher’s (mostly tiresome) show and was rattling of the lies so fast and voluminously that no one bothered to fact check her when she claimed that Hillary Clinton never conceded the 2016 election, a concession speech we all watched on TV. Of course Dershowitz also offends because he was once more respected. He will not be well remembered , but I suspect that he feels that being remembered for defending a reckless con man who threatened democracy is better than being remembered for getting sleazy Claus von Bulow off for the murder of his socialite wife, or for defending Jeffrey Epstein.

What do you think Corcoran’s liability is? drafting the response letter declaring that to their knowledge all requested docs had been returned to NARA or FBI? But he didn’t sign that letter, only Bobb did.

Holy cow (Devin) That’s a lot of people!

Trump and many of his allies hyped hydroxychloroquine as a cure primarily to downplay the severity of COVID — an effort birthed out of concerns over the damage a shut-down nation would inflict on the U.S. economy.

Trump is a drug pusher. He lied about taking it.

You don’t suppose any of them would try to represent themselves, should the eventuality arise?

Wasn’t Saint Ronnie supposed to have remarked on the similarity of trees? Sample size of one, if I recall correctly. I think the general RW attitude is that the only good tree is a dead tree.

He really can’t read. Just ignore him   ; - )

He also claimed trees caused pollution. Though that may have been during the last couple years of his second term when he wasn’t exactly all there.
