Here’s basis of this lie, just FYI: Medicare pays hospitals for care based on Diagnosis Related Groups" - DRGs. Basically a fixed payment for an admission based on diagnosis, rather than paying separately for every test done or service provided. The supposed idea is to promote efficiency and reduce overtreatment. So there is a DRG for congestive heart failure and one for appendicitis, etc. Someone noticed that there is a DRG - a fixed payment - for a COVID diagnosis and either misinterpreted it or lied about it to claim that was a financial incentive to classify patients as COVID patients. No, it’s just the normal way hospitals get paid. But the rightwing echo chamber has been spreading that for months.

I spent 40+ years teaching medical students and doing medical research. I have been around a lot of doctors and other medical folk. They do not do their jobs with avarice in their minds. They don’t have time to think of profit. This man is deliberately , willfully insulting the very people who saved his life from covid. They didn’t have to do whst they did with all the fancy cutting edge stuff they gave him. They saved his fucking life and this is how he repays them.
If ever a person deserved public humiliation it is donald trump.

And I bet given the cost of taking care of Covid patients that hospitals are losing money on every one of them, especially when one takes into account the profitable elective procedures that have had to be cancelled in areas with severe Covid outbreaks.
