MD Gov Launches Book Tour And Eyes Possible 2024 GOP Presidential Bid | Talking Points Memo

This governor is the guy who leveraged his wife’s connections with the south korean embassy, to have covid-19 tests purchased in south korea flown in on a private plane to prevent them from being confiscated by the federal government (and you know who that means). He can dine out on that story for a long time: https://wjla.com/news/local/hogan-has-national-guard-md-police-protecting-covid-tests-from-feds-at-secret-location

I think we should encourage him, though I agree he has almost no chance. But I’d much, much rather see him than Tom Cotton, Pompeo, or Tucker Carlson. Perhaps even set up a Lincoln Project of our own to support him? After watching Republicans nominate, then elect Trump, perhaps we should think about messing with the Republican primary. Hey, if it’s okay for the Russians…

Until specific candidates prove differently – and the burden of proof is really high because, history – the least bad Republican is substantially worse than the least good Democrat.

So let the Governor ask for my vote and see where they lie. But I don’t think so.

Hogan for President is a lead balloon that won’t launch.

Fully expect the 2024 contenders to be Jim Jordan, Ted Cruz, Tom KKKotton and Ivanka Trump…

But neither is reasonable enough to leave that racist, plutocratic, anti-democracy, anti-science, heartless party.

A Hogan vs Cotton as well as others primary debate would be amusing to say the least. “Governor why didn’t you request F-35’s to bomb Baltimore and Annapolis?”

I’d like to see that. I live in MD. MD is as blue as can be but sporadically elects a moderate Republican Governor, usually for tax/business reasons. Hogan is fairly moderate on social issues and mostly pragmatic on other issues so he was re-elected (mostly because the Dems didn’t put up a strong opponent). Hogan is an oddball. He is far too moderate for the fanatical right and I just cannot see him beating Van Hollen, who is well liked, because he tends to lean toward left of center but not too far left.
