McConnell Trashes Dems’ Coronavirus Bill Calling For Paid Sick Leave, Free Testing

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shot down House Democrats’ emergency response package for COVID-19 on Thursday, lambasting the legislation as “an ideological wish list that was not tailored closely to the circumstances.”

Well Moscow Mitch must not be watching a legislative body that actually works for the American People…

Katie Porter just forced, in one of the best 5 minutes I have ever seen, John “only here because I am an anti-abortion zellot” Redfern the “Head” of the CDC to commit to use his existing authority to pay for testing and treatment of those with Covid-19.

So his “ideological wish list” was just agreed to by even a Trump administration quasi-expert.

P.s. Video of Katie Porter’s power play is here: https://www.mediaite.com/tv/katie-porter-drags-cdc-chief-redfield-into-saying-yes-to-free-coronavirus-testing-after-brutal-grilling/

If you have not seen it, see it, it is killer.

“The GOP leader called on his Democratic colleagues to pass “smaller, non-controversial” measures.”

Like tax cuts for corporations and the super-rich.

And cuts to social security, medicare, and medicaid.

“As currently drafted, the proposal appears to impose permanent unfunded mandates on businesses that could cause massive job losses and put thousands of small businesses at risk,” McConnell said during a speech on the Senate floor.

What about the lives of Americans dying as you MoscowMitch block the Coronavirus Bill for paid sick leave?

MoscowMitch, you are putting the businesses above American lives = Criminal Negligence!

In addition, why does the Coronavirus travel ban include additional SBA loan funding when #TrumpBudget still wants to CUT CDC budget despite Covid-19 now classified as PANDEMIC by WHO?

Which of his family or cronies qualify for the SBA loans?

Yet another display that Moscow McConnell possesses little more than a low cunning. He can’t come up with any new excuses for shutting down the House bill. He’s just recycling the same talking points he always uses when he even bothers to “explain” why he won’t bring a bill to the floor (which could likely pass if it were actually voted on).

As Krugman as pointed out the R response to this will probably be as inept as theirs was to Bush’s recession

“the proposal appears”

Yeah, well Mitch, if you’re howling about the “large unfunded mandates”, then put forth an amendment to FUND THOSE MANDATES out of the Federal budget. Somehow, I suspect that this is already in the bill, and Moscow Mitch is just playing stupid to dazzle the rubes …er, “the base.”

I hope someone coughs on Mitch. Not out of malice or in hope he gets infected, I just want him to momentarily consider he might get infected and maybe he’ll have the briefest of thoughts about what other people are going through and what possibly half this country will have gone through a month from now. And if while pondering his own mortality he tripped down the Capitol steps, that would also be okay.

Don’t worry, Mitch, the equities markets are doing a fine job of destroying America’s businesses with no help from “unfunded mandates”. I think that is called “The Free Market”, you know, that thing you pretend to worship with every breath.

Mitch is expecting Putin to keep him in power, and does not understand the clusterfuck his and his mad boy-king leader have just brought on the US. Covid-19 will make the 2008 crash look like a chamber of commerce dinner party in comparison. And his members and him personally are exposed. They own Trump. They own Trump’s fuck ups.

And if Mitch does not lose his seat (if their is a god, she is supporting Amy McGrath, support here: ActBlue ) then I hope that majority leader Schumer takes away his staff, and his office, and gives him a broom closet to sit in for the next 6 years.

And oh, ciminally investigate him and his wife for influence peddling and bribe taking.

No surprises here. There’s really no choice for them at this point. They’ve built this whole edifice now and any deviation from slavish devotion and the whole house of cards comes down.

How dare those evil dems try and give paid leave and free testing to people! They should be giving the money to rich people!

He’d probably be amenable to it only if it included Black Lung benefits and some corporate welfare for his in-laws.

I’m thinking Mitch and his merry band of do nothing GOPers need to get “The Masque of the Red Death” treatment.

“The GOP leader called on his Democratic colleagues to pass “smaller, non-controversial” measures.“

Because nothing calls for smaller measures like a worldwide pandemic and an associated international financial crash, right Mitch? Your vile evil lust for power is magnitudes worse than Trump’s pathetic incompetence.
