McConnell Rips Trump For Mob ‘Fed Lies’ Leading Up To Deadly Capitol Riots | Talking Points Memo

Credit where credit is due and this is a good sign that traditional Republican power structure want to put a knife in Trumpism. For their own self-interest, but to be capitalized on.

Cold and calculating.

Like absolute zero cold.

NO, McConnell used Trump to get what he wanted and then lost his leadership role. He wants back into the fold, so his only path is to denounce Trump, cuddle up to Schumer, and try to salvage his public persona.

Don’t trust him. For Schumer and Biden, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”

I don’t trust McConnell but I applaud his condemnations of the violent attack Trump caused on the joint session of Congress. Trump was gleeful while the lives of his VP, Speaker of the House, and many other elected officials were in mortal danger.

Believe him - don’t over interpret him.

His plain words are anti-Trump, he has seen the danger to his own interests (and has more cunning and guile than the foolish Mrs Graham).

He’s not a friend but for brief period he is an ally of convenience, like Uncle Joe Stalin was.

But he still won’t vote yes on impeachment

Poor Mitch miscalculated.

Had he booted Trump out last year, he’d probably still be Senate Majority Leader.

Maybe not. He sees the Republican Party at risk. He may be hearing from his caucus.

The low information voters in Kentucky (ie: most of them) don’t actually know him.
If they did, he’d be tarred and feathered.

Spare me.

If it had worked McConnell would have cheered. As the man once said, “Let’s look at his record…”

He may be calculating the prospects for the Republican Party going forward if Trumpism isn’t damped down.

Last month, I think. Oops.

Me listening to McConnell…

Hmmm, sounds like he might have the votes to convict.

When he saw the Republican Party headed for the toilet followed by a big flush.

Well, this is going to put Fox News in a sticky wicket, isn’t it? Stick with the golden goose of militant sedition or go with the golden goose of ostentatious patriotism.
Forget it, there’s no sticky wicket, they win either way.
