McConnell Proposes Kicking Impeachment Trial To Mid-February

Trump’s campaign spokesman Jason Miller confirmed on Twitter that at least one lawyer, Butch Bowers, had joined Trump’s legal team.

Back in 2009, Bowers was lawyer to Mark Sanford when the South Carolina legislature was thinking about impeachment.

He was successful in the sense that impeachment was not pursued.

There are benefits for our side by holding off a few weeks, right? It would allow us to get Biden’s cabinet picks through without the theatrics and posturing that doing it in the middle of an impeachment trial would cause. I get that we can walk and chew gum at the same time, but this would let us focus on the first task at hand. Am I wrong (not being sarcastic)?

Instead MTG sitting on a committee, she needs civics schooling. Was she home schooled perhaps?

Well that seems like a no brainer, but then I’m not a legal eagle.

In

a statement after discussing the matter with the Republican conference, McConnell suggested that Trump have until February 4 to answer the articles of impeachment and until the 11th to submit a pre-trial brief. The House would have two days to file its rebuttal pre-brief by the 13th.

Mitch is having a hissy fit because he lost control of the Senate. Now he wants to still call all the shots. And probably wants to give *rump time to find lawyers who will agree to not being paid. I think it is time that Schumer take the gavel and hit Mitch on the head.

How about having Liz Warren tell Mitch to sit down and shut up?
Yeah…that would be lovely.

He doesn’t give a single damn about the one who won’t be named, all he cares about is his power and getting control of the Senate back. Full stop.

Mitch playing his games on this smacks of preserving the brand. And that is what is curious. Sooner before information firms up would be an advantage. On the other hand, he may think he can muddy things and time will make this old news, less heated and less punitive to the Republican image.

Personally, from the actions he performed coupled with Chao’s exit, I think he is in disarray. He is trying to work from muscle memory and doesn’t understand what is coming at him.

McConnell made the classic mistake of thinking he could play [Individual-1] and got royally played in the process. And his reflexes are no longer swift enough to thread through the fiasco he helped create, protect the Republican brand and avoid the rabid followers of [Individual-1].

I’m not feeling that generous. Fuck You McConnell works for me.

Strike while the iron is hot, while people remember what happened just a few weeks ago. There is no better time than right now. Dems can walk and chew gum at the same time. This will have no impact on what Biden is able to get done in the next few weeks.

It is hard to go full Louie, it takes time and repetition.

Do Senate rules allow a trial on a part time basis?
That is, say, 4 hours trial, followed by 4 hours work passing legislation?

If I had my way, it would be 8 hours trial, 8 hours work passing legislation, followed by sleeping in a bunk in the Capitol basement. All meals provided for the duration. Just git er dun.

In the spirit of compromise let me propose “Fuck you Mitch, strong letter to follow.”

Oh, Mitch, you intrepid alligator snapping turtle, you. Delay? Lest they forget? Surely you jest.

Just be happy as you and your caucus o’ cucks get to take full credit, full ownership for your support — on TV! — of the utter disaster visited on us over the last four years.

Start practicing that impersonation you do so well, okay?

Hopefully, Chuck’s response will be, “Fuck you, Mitch!” All done in a uniting way, of course.

Why do we give a fuck any more what Mitch McConnell “proposes”? <Hulk> GRRRAAAAHHHH!

[deep breath]
I am fine, in theory, with the idea of looking for compromise. But FIRST we unabashedly seize the reins of power - [clenches teeth] just like Mitch Fucking McConnell would - set the rules, and begin governing from our rightful position of power.

WE KNOW that we will bargain in good faith
WE KNOW that Mitch And The Clownshow will not bargain in good faith. Ever.

Stop giving them an inch, FFS.
