True, unfortunately.

If 9/11 had happened during the August Recess, Moscow Mitch would have agreed to hold hearings about this terrible event right after he finishes his vacation…

I remember advocating simple messages a long time ago. Not everyone lives on a TPM and drills down. That is exactly what the Republicans did for Trump initially, giving people sharp edges to hold on to. It is not touchy feel-y and layered in informed nuance. The nice thing as always, the our side can play that game and it comes with fact and truth. We just need to use it.

This is different. Why, I am not sure.

Arm in sling, opioids doing their job, why would he be concerned.

Moscow Mitch doesn’t want to do anything.
He wants no legislation proposed.
He wants no legislation brought to a vote.
He wants no legislation passed.

Moscow Mitch does nothing unless it is to his own personal benefit—either monetarily or politically.
This is not going to change.

I hope you are right. Feels different to me too.

My point was that #moscowmitch hasn’t figured that out yet though and still thinks drawing his head in and hiding in his shell will mean the whole thing washes over him and is gone.

We should all send money to Mad Dog Pac so they can put up a few hundred billboards in Kentucky. That, might just get his attention.
Each billboard costs about $5,200.
I love a good monkey wrenching but since a lot of that is not considered legal, the billboards are another option.

The primary difference this time is that there was an explicit attack on immigrants that was instigated by the President, during the early stages of the Presidential race, and it’s focused a key split and brought guns and race to the forefront of things.

Now, whether that is temporary (because another inevitable shooting take the headlines from it), or whether momentum sticks, remains to be seen.

I’m not sure I agree with that. War was good for the repug brand. Action was needed immediately so moving on to the Iraqi oil that would pay for everything could be achieved in the effort to turn the Middle East in to America’s biggest fans.

Feels different to me too, and maybe it’s the culmination of all the garbage that has come before, children separated from parents and put in cages, immigrants being treated as the other, and everything more and more in our face.
This time the gun story has stayed in the forefront longer than most other news items.

It feels different now—but by the time the Senate returns in mid-September, it will all be lost down the memory hole.

Which is exactly what Moscow Mitch is counting on.

The repugs’ fuck you to everything, will continue until election day and only then will we find out of it’s different this time.

Yeah…Mitchie Moscow has received about 1/100 of the negative attention from the American public that he deserves.

Maybe less…

He has got that patrician (Roman) Senator schtick down pat. It’s about time that we all got treated to some you-can-draw-a-straight-line connections between Mitchie Moscow and
a host of negatives.

OT Hint about my previous sentence…Attention to Mitchie Moscow’s negatives should NOT be confined to top-tier magazines that most people do not read.

It’s absolutely true that Mitch will be holding discussions about guns - with the NRA, about how to support the American gun industry, and what his members’ quid-pro-quo will be. What? You thought he was going to discuss diddly-squat with Democrats?

She’s trying to make McConnell a target for Trump’s ire. Trump always blames someone and she is feeding him McConnell.

Love that! Hope you’re right.

‘We’ll be discussing gun regulation as soon as my shoulder heals,’ the KY Senator drawled, ‘and if that takes 6, 12, 24 months, it doesn’t matter, we WILL have that conversation … as long as it doesn’t slip my mind. Or get sidetracked by future, more urgent, crises in need of ignoring. Oh my, did I say that out loud?’

Worth remembering—and it hasn’t changed much in the last two years.
