Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can’t let his beef with a private shoe company go — even on America’s birthday.
Well, at least the 2nd-most-powerful person in the Nazi and Slavery Party is showing his true colors for the day.
I am a bit surprised that he wasn’t wearing black face when he did it, or at least a confederate uniform. (The bedsheet option is perhaps too obvious even for him, at least in public.)
Phyllis Wheatley > Betsy Ross
Abigail Adams > Betsy Ross
Molly Pitcher > Betsy Ross
Deborah Sampson > Betsy Ross
Margaret Corbin (she was the 1st woman to receive a US military pension from Congress) > Betsy Ross
Betsy Ross (the Red She Hulk) > Betsy Ross
Betsy Ross (one of Capt. America’s first love interests) > Betsy Ross
Hum somebody must be up for reelection

Saving this for later
Try this one, McConnell.
It’s the one that flew over a US military fort when treasonous racists, like you, attacked it. They couldn’t get what they wanted through democratic and Constitutional means, so they, like you, tried to rip the country apart.
As long as he can keep everybody’s attention focused on pettiness he won’t have to address the crises his party has brought about.
So wait, this is just a historical flag from the early Republic, right? Which we are celebrating today, slavery and all, because y’know what? we eventually abolished slavery, and we’re still the Republic. Do we not celebrate anymore because there was slavery? Of course not! So some Nazi wannabees have coopted it as their own. Declining to display it is cowardly allowing asshats to own history. The answer is to display it proudly so we own it, it’s our history. I haven’t seen the stupid shoes, but talk about short-sighted cowardice on the part of the NAACP, Kaepernick, Nike, and all the rest who reacted instead of thinking this thru.
Was the 1777, 13-star flag sewn by Betsy Ross somehow crafted with the promotion of segregation & slavery in mind? seriously, NO … although many many forms of hideous civil injustice did exist at the time - the 13-star flag was not in and of itself a secret code symbol for the aggressive pursuit of civil injustice toward individuals living in the colonial “states”
Has that 13-star been co-opted by right wing groups in today’s society and employed as a symbol that they use in the promotion of their racist ideology? … YES
Does Mitch McConnell know full well that the 13-star flag has been embraced by right wing racists as a symbol of their movement? - Yes - he damn well does … and he is being a pandering disingenuous pious F$CK and intentionally & opportunistically playing up to them - he is being coyly obtuse and simplistic - and ignoring the current racist linkage situation.
Oh and by the way, McTurtle is not the leader of the Reactionary Party, there’s a fat fuck with tiny fingers who has that title.
Dear Speaker McConnell:
While we appreciate your generous offer to buy a pair of athletic shoes we don’t offer, we’d like to remind you that Nike does not, nor has any plans to, sell orthopedic footwear suitable for someone of your age and species.
Thank you for your keen interest in Nike.
Sincerely,
Marketing Department, Nike

The Good Old Days party:
McConnell sure didn’t stick up for the Harriett Tubman 20!
"It’s just McConnell’s latest attempt to weigh in on the controversy "
Dear Ms. Lafond - As the laziest commentor on this board, I hesitate to criticize - but the phrase ‘weigh in’ usually implies argument or opinionating.
This is more ‘adding fuel to the fire’ or ’ jabbing at…"
I enjoy your work, but I suggest you don’t always use the easiest phrase to hand.
With respect,
R.C.
That is between him and Mrs. McConnell behind the bedroom door.
Maybe if they made a line for cloven hooves.
I presume that Trump’s supporters already have one where the stars are shaped like a swastika, and only count the “real” states.
I can’t agree with “cowardice,” Kaepernick, especially, has demonstrated tremendous bravery.
I do believe, though, that you are right about reclaiming the symbol. It would be a good test run for unleashing an untapped power against white nationalism and racism disguised as populism.
For people under 60, popular culture is created largely by black music artists and by writers for video productions. Fox News and the tiki torchers and the corporate news masters and even Trumpp together can’t compete if the creators of culture want to attach a new message to a symbol.
Part of that message is that the US flag isn’t there to tell us to just stand at attention and shut up.
