Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) have in recent days warmed up to punishments for President Donald Trump called for by Democrats, according to a new report in the New York Times.

“Adolf who? I never heard of that man.”

“Thank you, Herr Goering.”

“McConnell is privately pleased that Democrats are pursuing a second Trump impeachment, the report says, hoping that it will ease scrubbing the President from the party.”

Sorry GOP, but that stink will follow you to your graves.

I think I will hold off on believing any of this until I see/hear Trump denouncing Moscow Mitch and Krooked Kevin for betraying his wonderful presidency.

All this sounds very much like good news. I’m almost afraid to believe it.

I have a feeling it’s in the Republicans best interest to make sure can’t run as a third party candidate. And that he is convicted in the Senate trial and disgraced.

They may even support further charges.

So, you’re saying the Dems should vote to not convict…

If McConnell can’t get enough GOP senators to vote to convict, the House and Senate need to consider using Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to bar Trump from holding any office in the future. That only requires a majority vote in the House and Senate.

In the photo, McConnell and McCarthy look like two empty-nesters as their youngest child goes off to jail. It gives me all the feels.

Republicans with conscience were driven from the House in every election since the Eighties. There don’t seem to be any remaining. Oh, a few complained, after it was their own building that got invaded by lynchers, but they did not show conscience over the previous two months or four years.

McConnell to Dems & Trump: “Let’s you and them fight.”

I guess that they’ll just have to vote “absent,” then.

McConnell is only supportive of Trump’s impeachment because at this time it is good for McConnell. That is McConnell is hoping to end the GOP’s Trump problem now instead of it bleeding into 2022 and 2024.

The GOP base still loves Trump and will do what Trump tells them to do. McConnell by trashing Trump now is hoping to both get rid of Trump and then have enough time to get Trump’s base back into the GOP so that in 2022 McConnell will again be majority leader and in 2024 maybe the GOP can take back the presidency. 2022 and 2024 look bleaker for McConnell should Trump still be a force after the inauguration of Biden.

Couldn’t care less why.
Just that he is.
And he votes,
“CONVICT THE MOTHERFUCKER”

I think the money is also an important part of the calculus with companies like Stripes and Salesforce shutting down Trump’s ability to fundraise. Not to mention all of the companies suspending contributions to the GOP.

The thing about Trump’s base is that they’re not going to read this, or hear about it. If Trump out’s Mitch And Kevin then they might, if Trump keeps this mum then they won’t.

It’s so hard to enjoy and spend the spoils after the world ends.

Kevin needs to process his mea culpa - ASAP & put in a request to Mitch for immediate amnesty - which will probably be contingent upon Kevin securing Trump’s resignation … or showing the multiple scars that he received from asking for it !
