Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) told his Republican colleagues on Thursday that he anticipates that the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump will begin next week.
Except itās not just a matter of āreceiving the articlesā, itās also about the house assigning managers. Nancy has repeatedly said she wonāt be able to do that until the senate decides on their process. Itās all so catch-22 absurd thereās no way it will go like they say.
Makes sense, I think Pelosi has gotten all of the mileage out of the hold that she canā¦new evidence came out, Bolton said heād testify, and the Republicans look ever more like they will hold a sham trial. Her intent was to change the trial parameters into a real one, and the Republicans arenāt going to let that happenā¦holding longer just means giving Republicans more ammunition to make impeachment about hurting Trump instead of protecting the nation. Might as well let the Republicans have their sham trial, and then continue the investigations and see what else falls out.
If it was me, Iād wait to see if the Republicans call witnesses, then when they donāt see if Bolton says anything like āIād love to testifyā and then subpoena himā¦there is no difference between a House and Senate subpoena, if he ignores the former then heās just part of the cover up. Then, just continue to investigate and press for information and documentsā¦there is more out there that will come out before the election, having Republicans on record supporting Trumpās bad actions is going to hurt them in 2020 with independent voters and people who wanted a real trial.
Nancy Should wait to at least after the Superbowl. Better yet after the Wold Series.

Donāt bite on what McConnell says he āexpectsā in his quest to goose the system. It starts when the House transmits the articles. That is an action within the gift of the Speaker, not the Senate majority leader.
