Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Thursday declared that the new voting rights bill Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is set to bring to the floor next week is “going nowhere.”

And McConnell is 100% right. Sinema and Manchin aren’t going to let voting rights legislation go anywhere. They’ve destroyed Biden’s agenda at this point and, to the extent that anything at all slips through, the damage is done and any victory laps over some relatively milquetoast achievements won’t be followed by Biden enjoying an approval bounce-back. They’ve done precisely what they were paid to do and were 100% successful at it. The GQP owes them great thanks for the fascist regime they’re about to start establishing in 2023 and 2025.
