Only one outcome will preserve core precedence rather than smash them into bits in a partisan rage because one party still cannot accepts the American people’s choice in 2016.”

McConnell is doubling down.

Give him more shovels. Most people want a fair, transparent Senate trial. McConnell doesn’t want that.

Sometimes words with three syllables or less is all that’s required.

MoscowMitch knows that he can’t allow anything approaching a fair trial… if he does, it will spell the end of tRump

So right,

“It could not be clearer which outcome would serve the stabilizing, institution preserving, fever breaking role for which the United States Senate was created and which outcome would betray it. The Senate’s duty is clear."

yet so wrong,

McConnell appeared to signal that the upper chamber may dismiss the case outright.

I’ll BET #MoscowMitch “Avoid[ed] Outlining Clear Senate Plan.”

That’s because he doesn’t dare HAVE ONE.

McConnell obviously knows how to kill something in the Senate – if he was going to table this whole thing, he would have done it right now. So maybe, juuuuust maybe, there’s hope that this might be a bridge too far even for him.

I heard most of Moscow Mitch’s measured rant on my way home from getting my hair cut this morning. It struck me that if one didn’t actually know the history of the matter, ol’ Moscow Mitch was making some sense.

Unfortunately for Moscow Mitch, the American people have pretty much spoken and said that they want (and expect) a fair trial in the Senate.

L’aissez le bon temps roulez!

Who is reality?

Fox wasn’t the only one. Several “legacy” press outlets like McClatchy were banging on this narrative. But, if such is the case, McConnell ought to be giving profuse thanks to Nancy Pelosi.

1 / "…one party still cannot accept the American people’s choice in 2016.” Yes, the GOP willfully forgets that HRC got 4M more votes than DJT. They never say the Electoral College’s choice, which is factually true.

2 / 21 years ago re WJClinton, Moscow Mitch thought lying about sex with an adult woman was the worst thing ever, deserving of impeachment & removal.

3 / And 21yrs ago his Best Boy Graham said this: “You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic if this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role…Impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”

A fair trial?

He’s apparently not even giving a press-conference, the coward.

Unlike Pelosi.

You can say you don’t like it, or that you disagree with it. But how can you call it illegitimate when it followed the constitutional process?

Sounds like he is trying to thread the needle between Trump’s demands for a “made for TV” drama… complete with Obama, HRC, Pelosi and Schiff tearfully admitting they were the guilty ones all alone, ala Perry Mason…and the demands to not hold a trial that his vulnerable Senators desire.

This path will be disastrous for the GOP. They needed to at least hold up the fig leave that they were going to actually hold a trial. Now feeding the base with the notion of dismissing the charges out of hand is painting himself into a uncomfortable corner.

I think he knows he made a huge mistake. He should never have showed his cards, much less bragged that he wasn’t going to even listen to evidence. Co-Equal branches, and a Speaker who knows who she is – and who he is, and it certainly isn’t who this wattled wreck thinks he is. He doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Yup. They’re playing to the base – but if they do anything to short-circuit this in the coming months, Dems (and indies?) will go incendiary.

2018 will look like a storm in a teacup compared to 2020.

#MoscowMitch has to know this. His strategy on this is pretty opaque to me – is he trying to get himself and others excused from voting, hoping to leave the field open to Dem Senators to take Spankee down with the hope he can provoke MAGAt rage and ride this to another EC victory??? He’s machiavellian enough to have this in mind…
