McConnell Blames Impeachment For Trump Admin’s Slow Response To Coronavirus

I would post something solving the Mitch problem but I do hold freedom dear…

Thanks for the reminder. Bush the Lesser in his first summer, '01, took the longest vacation in the modern presidency, five weeks, leading up to 9/11. Will Ferrell was prescient in his Bush imitation, months before: “I’ll be on the job 24/7; that’s 24 hours a week, 7 months a year.”

Couldn’t Supremes just rule that his term doesn’t end, and declare up is down and there are 6 i’s in ‘team’ while they’re at it?

He did. And he was all in on the god-awful “conversion therapy.” I think he would be worse than 45*. His smug so-called “Christian” schlock makes me nuts. I think they are both sociopaths and given a choice between a godless buffoon and a so-called “christian” fanatic, I would go with the godless buffoon. Jmho

I don’t think so, he’s been winning since took office.

2018 Elections, not so much. Imagine if the Republicans still controlled both Houses of Congress. Constitutionally though thunderclapnewman is dead-on target.

In case you haven’t noticed, Trump is winning, and very handily I might add. Mark my words, they’ll find a way.

Of course they will try to find a way. Are you saying Trump will win again in Pennsylvania? Michigan? Wisconsin? Arizona? Are we seeing that?

With the Coronavirus situation as it is the US Postal Service with be vital to the legitimacy of the November election. There are already signs that tRump is sabotaging the USPS. Remember he needn’t delay or postpone the election in all the states, just the red states will do. So what if California, New York, Michigan, etc all hold elections on time if Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia don’t. If it’s not a complete election it’s not an election at all. I can already hear him saying that or some diabolical mutation of that. Add to that his control over the armed services and the overall responsibility of maintaining security over all of the states.Who’s gonna stop him…Chuck and Nancy?

Here’s the kicker: tRump’s very likely alternative to 4 more years in office is jail so what’s he got to loose?

The generals are going to side with Trump?

For sake of humanity I hope not. But how many of our Republican congressmen and women are standing up to his most recent unbelievably disgusting and deadly show of partisanship? He’s hoarding medical supplies, essentially letting folks die because they live in blue states… So you believe our generals and our political leaders are going to tolerate him killing those he considers his political adversaries with but for him to subvert ANOTHER election is going to be crossing some sort of line in the sand? I just don’t know about that is all I’m saying. I still think we’re underestimating him.

Yes to all of the above. We underestimate Trump at our peril (or in honor of our 43rd President, “misunderestimate”) - as we keep finding out. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think the generals will side with Trump if push came to shove - but we also know Trump enjoys a level of support in our military beyond what he clearly deserves. But he is also deeply resented because of the innumerable times - including late last week - where Trump has so willingly thrown them under the proverbial bus. And an awful lot know what a coward Trump is.

Back to your point about the perils of misunderestimating Trump - or Reagan or Bush the Lesser. Yeah, that’s worked out great. They’re stupid, alright. Why, we’ve won five of the last 13 presidential elections in 52 years in large part by misunderestimating them. I’m sure Machiavelli would agree, it’s always a good strategy - no, make that “stratergy” - to misunderestimate your adversary; works nearly every time.

Best of luck to you and yours in this time of peril.
