Pelosi’s already telegraphed her reaction:
Okay, serious question, and I would appreciate anyone providing me with reporting that backs this up.
In his Editor’s Blog post this morning, Josh assets the following:
According to numerous published reports, the ultimate source of which is almost certainly McCarthy himself, Trump told McCarthy in real time that he was barring the US military from stopping the insurrection in order to give his violent supporters time to ransack the Capitol and bring the official vote tabulation to a halt.
It’s well-known that McCarthy had a call with Trump in which he pleaded for him to call off the MAGA mob. McCarthy himself phoned into CBS for a live spot about that call, complaining about Trump’s refusal to do anything. But I cannot recall any reporting to the effect that Trump said he wasn’t going to do it because he wanted to give the MAGAs room to obstruct the official proceeding.
It’s only multiple felonies on the line with that italicized piece. Anyone know where the hell Josh got that?
In the hands of, say, a skilled detective, you’d be surprised how many perps give it up.
She also has to think hard about what a GOP majority in either house or Trump winning in '24 means. If she’s serious about this then she has to take it all the way and do all she can to prevent it from winning anything over the next several election cycles, until Trump and his ilk are no longer a threat to the party or country. She knows that their taking over means the end of US democracy and her wing of the party. She needs to take the loss to win over the long run. But will she? No sign she supports voting rights legislation, which is kind of hypocritical given that these laws being passed are a backdoor coup attempt.
Yep, that’s what plea bargaining is all about. Confess and take the deal or be convicted and do double the time.
He read my posts?
I guess if the FBI or DOJ issued a subpoena to McCarthy he could similarly assert those entities weren’t legitimate, and thus refuse to comply. Seems a lot of people are reserving the right to tell people “What you’re doing is bullshit and I won’t cooperate!”, and getting away with it.
I think this harkens back to other reps who reported the call in the first place.
from February 2021
Exactly and precisely and accurately, yes.
And yet he suggests that they discussed cheeseburgers and golf during their calls.
That depends. As but one example, the detective interviewing the parolee who murdered my son’s godfather got the full confession. The perp is doing 25 to life.
no one should cooperate until we get to the bottom of what happened at Benghazi
Please do not compare Charlie McCarthy with Qevin.
Charlie may have been a wooden-headed dummy, but he was always far smarter than Qevin could ever be.
I really enjoyed watching his beady eyes as the questions unfolded.
Ironically, that would lead you right to Jan 6th. Hillary’s same kill-squad that raided the consulate was in the lead group that breached the Capitol.
She’s not gotten over 2016, and was trying to ensure that Biden wouldn’t succeed where she had failed.
All of that story is pretty damning, but none of it says that Trump directly told McCarthy he wanted his mob to obstruct the vote count. It’s easy to infer that intent from the reporting, but inference is way weaker evidence than a direct confession.
But thanks for dragging that up anyway, “I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are” is still incredibly inculpatory.
There’s this bit:

Coupled with someone’s, was it McCarthy’s, or SecDef’s, claim that Trump Supporters would be “defended” by the National Guard.
And this bit:
Does any of that help? I’m not sure they cover your specific question.
