So McCarthy wants to ‘cancel’ Cheney while denouncing his imagined ‘cancel culture.’
The GOP needs different scriptwriters if it is to survive.
“Look, I don’t believe in cancel culture, whether it be a Republican or Democrat,” McCarthy said. “I believe in white free speech. This Republican Party is a big white tent, we are a party of white ideas, white people should be hearing our ideas.”

Boy…when they focus on a phrase they believe has legs, they just dont run with it, they throw it around, eat it, shit it out, then wipe walls with that shit. Now they’re canceling their own cultures…this circular cancelling squad is amazing.

Can someone explain to me what the hell “cancel culture” means?
I admit to being an old fart who is not up on every acronym and phrase used in insults.
“Cancel culture”, to Republicans, means being criticized.
For example, you say or do something totally racist, and someone criticizes you for it. That’s being “cancelled”.
In real life, “cancel culture” has no meaning. How to you “cancel” a person? It’s a stupid term that has already had its 15 minutes and should be tossed in the dustbin of history.
It means I’m butthurt about (fill in the blank)
There is no GOP civil war, in spite of various press outlets’ attempts to create one out of whole cloth.
If you attempt a coup to overturn a free and fair election, isn’t that “cancel culture”?
Just like “unfair” to Donald Trump means anything that disadvantages Donald Trump -
“Cancel culture” to Republicans means anything that criticizes Republicans or old white men in general.
You want to call him an empty suit, but it’s kind of hard when there’s 250 pounds of shit stuffed into it.
I think it has it’s origin in the movement to take down post-Reconstruction monuments to the heroes of the Confederacy. Somehow, that was ‘cancelling’ the national culture.
I first saw that phrase back in the early days of the #metoo movement. It was used to describe boycotts against individuals and companies who were seen as guilty of treating women badly, so they were going to be “canceled” with boycotts and public derision.
So it started as something linked to bad behavior that should be boycotted. Now it’s morphed into the idea of group silencing regardless of whether it’s justified or not. Just a meaningless complaint by whoever feels targeted.
“But the idea that a Republican would join with cancel culture — I just think is wrong,” McCarthy said. “It’s beyond just having a difference of opinion.”
Next thing you know they’ll want to make shunning illegal. I’ll be deprived of one of the most joyous experiences a person can engage in.
Cancel culture. What drives me crazy about this term and how it’s become the GQP buzzword is now I have to listen to my 79 year old father-in-law and 74 year old uncle keep saying “cancel culture” when wanting attention with a political rant.

Fox News would not really suffer terribly if ALL its advertisers quit! Where they make their money is the fees from cable companies who carry their programs. So, if you want to stop Fox, boycott the cable companies. Hard to do, but cutting the cord and doing NetFlix, Prime, etc. supplemented with over-the-air channels with a digital antenna is the way to do it.
GQP is worried about being cancelled due to poor ratings. SAD!
