McCarthy’s gambit won’t actually stop the reconciliation bill from passing
The law, which bans teachers from teaching anything with a “divisive concept” and the idea that “an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive,” led the state government to put up a website where parents can report teachers.
So does that mean the Civil War can’t be taught, or does that mean it can only be framed as the South frames it - a war of Northern Aggression. Nothing on the KKK? We can’t possibly teach anything about the South or slavery in the first few hundred years of the nation?
Holocaust is out? And what about the Asian internment camps in WWII?
History classes will be relegated to teaching pinochle.
The hypocrisy of it, of course, is that Sununu signed the bill into law that makes this possible, according to the article in MM. So him coming out against the results of that bill is pretty silly.
I don’t see the BBB passing the Senate.
No matter that near 70% of Americans are for it.
