McCarthy Knocks Congressional Staffers’ Unionization Efforts As Other Reps, Sens Weigh In

Days after a group of congressional staffers announced their efforts to unionize, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made clear — unsurprisingly — that he is not enthusiastic about the idea.

In this episode of As The Worm Turns Senators learn that ignoring events that endanger the lives of their lowly employees may well have consequences.

Funny how the GQP doesn’t want any groups to organize outside the GQP.

“Why would they organize to get a living wage? Isn’t the honor of working for me enough,” McCarthy said.

“I’m here at the will and pleasure of the people. They have a chance to change and things of that sort,” Manchin said.

Clearly, Senator Manchin is unclear on the concept of “at will” employment, since he can only be removed from office once every 6 years, while most of us can be fired at any time for no particular cause. Out of touch once again, Joe

Qevin The Doofy does well at punching down. At lowly staffers…

He has nothing to say about CoRonna and her goof(s)…

If McQevin’s fighting you that improves your odds.

Manchin added if there are any staffers who are being treated “unfairly,” then “that should be looked into and taken care of.”

And just who would that be Senator? You perhaps?

Heavens? How could the GOP hate workers’ unions?

Oh…

Last week Kevin was for “legitimate political discourse.” This week he’s all about “right to work.”

Who sets the staffers’ wages

Qevin McQarthy hates unions and wants them abolished. Of course he opposes unions for staffers.

In the Senate, it would likely go through regular order, requiring at least 10 Republicans, as well as all Democrats, to support it.

What kind of bullshit framing is this? It might require 60 senators, if enough of the others want to block it. But each of those 60 senators could come from any party. If enough Republican senators want to block it, they’ve got the numbers to do it. But, please, don’t set this up as another failure of Democrats because they’re unable to get every single last one of the Democratic senators on board. Sheesh! It’s the Republicans who are really preventing us from having good things.

I think it was Al Franken who used “weasel words” on the radio program he briefly hosted. But if you google it, Theodore Roosevelt said it first.

Desperation is not a pretty sight. But I do enjoy it when Nancy deservedly trashes him by calling him a moron.

“We now have a committee that all of America wants to know the answers to.”

“How can you ever get to the bottom of the questions?”

On President Biden: “The president, we sat to met with, that we wanted to be — keep our path be energy independent.”

And because Boxer was once my senator:

On a retired colleague: “Former liberal senator Barbara Boxer is now has the effect of being robbed in Oakland.”
